$XRP’s market capitalization has erased nearly $10 billion in four days as bearish momentum continues to pressure the broader cryptocurrency market.

Specifically, on May 14, $XRP’s market capitalization stood at $95.39 billion before falling to $85.66 billion at press time, wiping out about $9.73 billion in four days.

Meanwhile, $XRP was trading at $1.38, down 4.5% over the past week and more than 2% in the last 24 hours.

$XRP’s decline has largely been driven by its strong correlation with Bitcoin (BTC), often magnifying market moves due to thinner liquidity and risk-off sentiment in altcoins.

As Bitcoin fell below $80,000 and struggles to hold above $75,000, additional pressure has weighed on $XRP.

The broader crypto market weakness has also been fueled by geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic uncertainty. In this line, the ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have lifted oil prices and triggered risk-off sentiment across global markets.

Meanwhile, rising U.S. Treasury yields and persistent inflation have reduced expectations for near-term Federal Reserve rate cuts, making speculative assets like cryptocurrencies less attractive.

Profit-taking by long-term holders and large investors has further added to the selling pressure, particularly after $XRP rallied above $1.50.

Notably, the correction has come despite strong momentum in spot $XRP ETFs, which recorded $60 million in net inflows last week, their best weekly performance of 2026.

Notably, all five $XRP ETF products recorded positive flows during the week, with the latest figure alone exceeding the combined monthly totals recorded in January, February, and March 2026.

Crypto markets saw a choppy, macro-driven week.

Bitcoin briefly held above the $80k region following early-week strength tied to U.S. legislative progress around the Clarity Act. However, it later slipped back toward the high $70ks as macro headwinds, including rising yields, inflation concerns, and broader risk-off flows, triggered widespread selling across the market.

Naturally, bears dominated the week, and most coins ended in the red. However, there were still a few assets that diverged from the broader trend.

Kite [$KITE] has topped this week’s gainers list with a 21% rally, extending last week’s 20.7% move higher. With the price now approaching the $0.25 resistance zone, the key question is whether $KITE can keep this momentum going into next week.

On the technical side, things are starting to look stretched. At press time, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) was sitting above 70, which signals overbought conditions. That said, during the mid-March peak, RSI pushed above 90, so historically the token has run hotter than current levels, leaving some room for continuation in this cycle.

Backing that view, bullish behavior is still showing up on the chart. A 2.98% pullback on the 15th of May, when RSI was already extended, was quickly bought up, with price bouncing 2.54% the following day. Taken together, the setup suggests buyers are still stepping in on dips.

Against this backdrop, $KITE is still holding a bullish structure, with a potential move toward the $0.25 resistance in the coming week. In turn, it keeps this altcoin firmly on watch for strategic positioning.

Strategy announced Monday it has acquired an additional 24,869 bitcoin for approximately $2.01 billion, averaging roughly $80,985 per coin, pushing the firm’s total holdings to 843,738 BTC — cementing its standing as the world’s largest corporate bitcoin treasury by a wide margin.

The disclosure came via a Form 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, continuing the company’s practice of Monday morning acquisition announcements. The purchase marks a significant acceleration from Strategy’s most recent disclosed buy — 535 BTC for $43 million during the week of May 5–11 — which had raised questions among investors about whether the firm was pulling back on its aggressive accumulation pace.

With this latest tranche, Strategy has now acquired a cumulative 843,738 BTC at an aggregate cost of approximately $63.87 billion, translating to an average price of roughly $75,700 per bitcoin. The company has also recorded a BTC Yield of 12.6% year-to-date in 2026 — a proprietary metric that tracks bitcoin accumulation per diluted share and serves as Strategy’s primary benchmark for measuring the accretive value of its capital markets activity for shareholders.

The purchase arrives against a backdrop of renewed investor attention on Strategy’s financing mix. The company has relied heavily on its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock — ticker STRC — alongside its MSTR at-the-market equity offering program to fund acquisitions. STRC, which offers an annualized dividend of approximately 11.5%, has grown into a multi-billion dollar preferred equity product and has become an increasingly important pillar of Strategy’s bitcoin-buying engine.
