Friday’s U.S. nonfarm payrolls report could inject volatility into the crypto market. Economists expect April job growth to slow sharply, with payrolls forecast to rise by just 62,000 compared with March’s 172,000, while the unemployment rate is seen holding steady around 4.3%, according to Reuters.

At first glance, weaker hiring data appears supportive for bitcoin and other risk assets. A softer labor market could reinforce expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep rates steady this year and potentially delay any tightening cycle beyond that. As of now, markets are pricing in steady rates through this year, followed by a hike next year.

What’s Expected for Bitcoin (BTC) Price by Year-End? Option Bulls’ Movements Analyzed: Two Levels Stand Out!The leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin ($BTC), surged above $82,000 on news of a possible deal between the US and Iran, coupled with institutional support. However, new developments regarding the conflict in the Middle East pushed $BTC back below $80,000.

However, this recent downturn did not affect the options market, and it entered an upward trend.

Accordingly, options investors are targeting $115,000 for Bitcoin by the end of the year.

According to the data, the number of investors betting that Bitcoin will rise above $115,000 by the end of 2026 in the options market is steadily increasing.

The 33% price increase since the annual low of $60,130 on February 6th is playing a significant role in increasing bullish expectations.

It is estimated that there is approximately $6 billion in open positions in Bitcoin options that expire on December 25th.

A significant portion of this consists of call option bets on the Bitcoin price rising above $115,000. Open positions for $115,000 and above are approximately $1.85 billion.However, at prices of $55,000 and below, there is a $1 billion put option, a figure that is also noteworthy.

This means that options traders are betting on extreme price expectations in both bullish and bearish markets. If the bulls appear overly optimistic, those taking short positions appear equally overly pessimistic.

Stablecoin card spend is growing 100% year over year, Rain exec saysStablecoin-based cards could soon account for double-digit percentages of all cards in some Latin American markets, John Timoney, head of strategic partnerships at Rain, a payments infrastructure platform, said.

Retail stablecoin card spend grew about 105% to 106% over the past year, Timoney said during a panel at Consensus Miami 2026. Cards are physical or virtual, allowing users to spend stablecoins such as tether and USD Coin (USDC) directly from a digital wallet for daily purchases.

Rain provides stablecoin infrastructure for card issuers and recently became a Mastercard Principal Member, allowing it to offer credit and prepaid cards on the Mastercard network. Rain and Mastercard are also exploring on-chain settlement for some card program flows using regulated stablecoins.

The company is not trying to replace card networks, Timoney said. It is trying to make stablecoin balances usable through existing networks that already reach merchants globally.

“The card networks over decades have rolled up hundreds of millions of merchants,” Timoney said. “Rain explicitly did not want to reinvent the wheel.”

Consensus panelists explain why Perp DEXes remain a tough sell for institutional investors


Institutional investors have increasingly gained exposure to bitcoin and other major tokens through ETFs and centralized exchanges.

However, they have largely stayed away from decentralized exchanges (DEXes) offering perpetual (perp) futures tied to crypto and tradfi assets, panelists said at Consensus Miami, citing security risks and a mismatch between DeFi’s permissionless design and institutional identity and compliance requirements.

The session titled "Perp DEX Explosion: Bullish Volumes & Bear Market Resilience" featured Wizard of SoHo, a veteran trader and family office manager; Michaël van de Poppe, founder and CIO of MN Fund & MN Capital; and Michael Anderson of Canary Labs. Jason Atkins, chief commercial officer at liquidity provider Auros, moderated the discussion.

The discussion focused on perpetual-focused decentralized exchanges and what it would take for them to attract institutional capital and scale up.

Wizard of SoHo said that institutions are unlikely to move onto perp DEXs easily due to recurring security/exploit risks highlighted by the recent multi-million-dollar hack of Drift, and that the next major competitive battleground for all perp DEXs will be whether any of them can safely onboard institutional capital.

“How do you convince the big institutional players to go on the perp devs? I think that's going to be the biggest challenge, especially given the exploit on Drift. And, you know, we've had a lot of exploits lately," he said.

Canary Labs' Anderson struck a cautious tone on decentralized finance, saying he is reluctant to use it despite having explored parts of the ecosystem.

“I’m scared to use DeFi right now,” he said. “It does feel like a bit of a minefield, and you’re just waiting for the next headline each day.”
