Ripple’s $RLUSD Grant Shows One-Year Stablecoin Impact

Ripple published an insight on May 7 detailing how its $25 million education commitment reached classrooms across the U.S. during the first year after the original pledge. Ripple said most of the original funding was delivered in $RLUSD, Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, supporting DonorsChoose and Teach For America programs tied to classroom materials, teacher stipends, tutoring, and financial literacy resources.

The update focused on results from Ripple’s earlier Teacher Appreciation Week commitment rather than a new funding announcement. DonorsChoose received $15 million, helping fund 48,108 classroom projects across all 50 states. Teachers requested books, science kits, technology, and supplies directly through the platform. Ripple said 86% of funded projects served schools where more than half of the students come from low-income households. U.S.-based employees also directed $25,700 to 378 projects at 336 schools. Crypto wallets are being rebuilt for AI agents, Trust Wallet and Mesh executives say at Consensus MiamiMIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Crypto wallets are being rebuilt for AI agents, said executives from Trust Wallet and Mesh on Thursday, with companies racing to give autonomous software a way to hold value, prove identity and transact on-chain.

Appearing at CoinDesk Miami, Arjun Mukherjee, chief technology officer at Mesh, said the shift is driven by what he called the cold-start problem for AI agents.

After ranging between $0.60 and $0.65 for five days, the altcoin sprung out to a 2026 high of about $0.79. This suggested that $AKT could head toward $1 as bulls’ momentum rose, as seen in the MACD bars.





However, the bulls were facing a test as $AKT showed signs of pausing between $0.75 and $0.80. If bulls keep buying the altcoin, the $1 target may be viable. Otherwise, $AKT may correct, as assets tend to do after such rallies.

Crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) has explained how an AWS data center cooling failure triggered a service outage that disrupted trading, exchange access, and customer account data across the platform. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong addressed the incident on X, while engineering lead Rob Witoff detailed the recovery process and customer impact.

“We experienced an outage at Coinbase last night, which is never acceptable,” Armstrong wrote on May 8. He added that most Coinbase systems were designed to withstand downtime in one AWS Availability Zone, but the centralized exchange did not respond that way during the outage. “It is possible to make exchanges resistant to AZ failures, but this can introduce latency delays that are not desirable along with breaking customer co-location,” Armstrong stated, adding:

“Given this incident, we’ll revisit these tradeoffs to ensure we’re giving you the best possible venue to trade. At a minimum, the duration of an outage should be able to be reduced considerably when an AZ move is needed.”
