Venom Foundation has announced a major protocol upgrade that introduces a fee-burning mechanism for the $VENOM token, a move designed to tie token supply more closely to actual network activity. Under the new system, 50 percent of qualifying network fees will be sent to an irreversible burn address and permanently removed from circulation.

Unlike a buyback program, which depends on separate market activity and often sits outside the core protocol, Venom’s burn mechanism is built directly into the network itself. That means every eligible transaction will automatically trigger the rule, with no manual intervention and no discretionary decision-making involved. Once tokens are burned, they cannot be recovered

JPMorgan's $30 billion Strategy call exposes Bitcoin's new market fault line

Strategy's capital markets machine may give Bitcoin a huge recurring buyer, but the same flywheel also means BTC could become increasingly dependent on one company's ability to keep issuing stock and preferred shares.

A May 7 JPMorgan client note estimated that Strategy could buy roughly $30 billion in Bitcoin in 2026 if Michael Saylor's company maintains its current purchasing pace.

Cardano whales now hold 67% of ADA supply in highest share since 2020

Large holders of Cardano's $ADA token have been quietly stacking for two years while the rest of the chain has gone quiet.

Wallets holding at least one million $ADA now control 25.09 billion tokens, an all-time high, representing 67.47% of the existing supply, per Santiment. That is the highest concentration in whale hands since July 2020, with the accumulation trend running uninterrupted since December 2023.

The token has shed 71% of its market cap over the past nine months, indicating that the largest holders have been buying into the price weakness.

Cardano's DeFi footprint has gone the opposite direction. Total value locked sits at $137 million, down from a December 2024 peak of around $686 million, an 80% drop, per DefiLlama.
