Bitmine made its largest ETH purchase this year despite Tom Lee's slowdown suggestion

Bitmine Immersion (BMNR), the Ethereum treasury firm helmed by chairman Tom Lee, ramped up purchases again, making its biggest haul since December.

The company said Monday it bought 111,942 ether ($ETH) last week, worth around $237 million at current prices. That lifted the firm's holdings to almost 5.4 million $ETH, about 4.47% of Ethereum’s circulating supply.

The purchase marks a renewed acceleration in Bitmine’s buying pace after Lee said earlier in May at Consensus 2026 in Miami that the company planned to slow weekly accumulation. The shift happened as the firm aims to take advantage of $ETH sliding from $2,400 in early May and April to near $2,100.

"We continue to steadily acquire $ETH," Lee said in the statement. "We view the recent pullback of $ETH to below $2,200 as an attractive opportunity."

Lee added that the firm is expected to reach its goal to corner 5% of ether's supply later in 2026.

Bitmine’s total crypto and cash holdings stand at $12.3 billion, according to the report. The company also holds 203 bitcoin, $444 million in cash and equity stakes including investments in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings.

The firm said it has staked more than 4.7 million $ETH — about 87% of its holdings — generating approximately $276 million in annualized staking revenue.

Tether and the Government of Georgia announced GEL₮, a lari-pegged national stablecoin, on the 25th of May 2026.

The move positioned Georgia among the first countries to place its national currency onto blockchain payment rails through a private issuer instead of a state-run CBDC.

Officials said the initiative targeted faster cross-border payments, lower settlement costs, and stronger digital financial infrastructure.

Georgia had reportedly spent months building a stablecoin framework covering reserve management, redemption rights, issuer oversight, and AML compliance.

However, this was not Tether’s first sovereign-style partnership.

$BNB Chain, a blockchain ecosystem for decentralized applications and services, announced the launch of Agent Survival Pack, a new initiative designed to give AI agents the ability to manage and pay their own operating expenses directly on-chain.

The project brings together six infrastructure partners that cover two main areas required for AI agents to work: access to language models and financial infrastructure. All payments within the system are settled using $BNB or BEP-20 tokens on the $BNB Smart Chain.

Several projects provide AI model access and computing infrastructure. Alt AI offers access to different AI models through a single interface, with payments made in BEP-20 tokens. Pieverse is an AI gateway built around its x402b payment system that allows agents to pay for API requests directly on-chain. Bankr provides access to more than 30 AI models, including Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, and DeepSeek, while charging based on actual usage. WorldClaw, a platform connecting hundreds of AI models, also rewards active users with credits and points.

The financial layer includes B.AI, an AI-focused financial infrastructure platform with payments, identity tools, and DeFi functions, as well as AEON, a payment bridge connecting blockchain agents with real-world merchants through QR payments.
