Nissan and Toyota have started using the Metaverse based on virtual reality (VR) technology. Using the services of US start-up VRChat, Nissan has set up a showroom in a virtual space that mimics a physical store in Ginza. The Ariya, a new electric car, was displayed, and will be used for new car launches and presentations in the future. Toyota has started introducing metaverse technology in some divisions and subsidiaries. The avatars of employees can walk, meet, and talk in the virtual office. At Toyota headquarters, departments such as technology development and personnel have already started using Metaverse technology, and further expansion is currently under consideration. In addition, overseas automakers such as Germany's Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz Group are also using Metaverse technology.
