Federal Judge to Hear Sam Bankman-Fried's Defense Argument Against Newly Released Evidence in Fraud Case
2023/08/27 00:11
Sam Bankman-Fried's legal team will present their arguments against newly released evidence from the U.S. Department of Justice in a videoconference hearing on Aug. 30. The defense argues that an additional 4 million pages of discovery were released less than six weeks before Bankman-Fried's trial, scheduled for October 3. Judge Lewis Kaplan has ordered the government to respond to letters from the defense team regarding their access to discovery materials and to consider a request to prevent the use of evidence produced after July 1. Bankman-Fried is facing 12 criminal counts for misappropriating user funds and has pleaded not guilty to fraud and money laundering charges.
