Israeli police accuse Israeli crypto giant Moshe Hogeg of defrauding $290 million in cryptocurrencies

On August 23, Israeli police charged Israeli encryption giant Moshe Hogeg and his partners with defrauding investors of $290 million through cryptocurrency scams. In a statement on Wednesday, Israeli police said that after two years of investigation, Moshe Hogeg was charged with fraud, theft, money laundering, forgery and tax crimes. Israeli police have submitted recommendations to prosecutors, who will decide whether to bring charges and review evidence of sexual crimes. According to reports, Hogeg and several of his partners (whose identities are not disclosed in the documents) are accused of using millions of dollars raised from Israeli and foreign investors in 2017 and 2018 for personal use and for four cryptocurrency start-ups.
