On August 18, a man in South Korea owed 50 million won in debt due to failed virtual currency investments. He committed consecutive robberies and thefts. The Gwangju District Court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in prison for special robbery and theft, with a suspended sentence of three years, and ordered him to perform 200 hours of community service. The man is 22 years old and was charged with carrying a weapon into a convenience store in Gwangju's Dong District in June 2023, threatening the store clerk, and stealing 570,000 won, as well as committing four thefts.
