Policy Research Center for Technology and Innovation (PReCIT) under the Hong Kong Polytechnic University has released the first PolyU Innovation and Technology Index report. Guangdong, Jiangsu and Beijing ranked top three in the innovation and technology index among the 34 regions in Greater China, with innovation and technology indices of 6.67, 5.20 and 4.72 respectively. Hong Kong ranked seventh with a score of 3.53. The report predicts that if Hong Kong achieves the vision of the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint of the SAR Government, its local innovation and technology ranking will rise to sixth and third place in 2027 and 2032 respectively. The report suggests that Hong Kong, as an international financial center, should seize the opportunities of the Web 3.0 era, further embrace the digital economy, and through the construction of an internationally leading innovation and technology center, accelerate its integration into the Greater Bay Area, cooperate with other cities for interconnection and promote the overall ranking of the region.
