CoinsPaid Hack: Cybercriminals Still Targeting Centralized Entities for Digital Robbery
08/08 19:00
The recent hack of crypto payment processor CoinsPaid, resulting in an estimated loss of $37.3 million, shows that cybercriminals are still willing to target centralized entities. The attackers, likely the North Korean Lazarus Group or affiliated with it, had been targeting CoinsPaid for months before finally pulling off the theft. They used fishing and social engineering attempts, distributed denial-of-service attacks, and even fake job offers to gain access to CoinsPaid's infrastructure. The firm's CEO emphasized the importance of digital hygiene and adequate staff training to prevent all kinds of cybercrime.
