A tech entrepreneur from New York, Ilya Lichtenstein, has pleaded guilty to laundering funds stolen from Bitfinex, a major cryptocurrency exchange. His wife, Heather Morgan, who goes by the hip-hop alias "Razzklekhan," is expected to enter her own plea later on Thursday. The couple had been arrested in February 2022 for laundering over 100,000 bitcoin worth $71 million at the time, which had appreciated to over $4.5 billion by the time of their arrests. Prosecutors are seeking forfeiture of $3 billion from the couple, which is the largest financial seizure in the history of the US Department of Justice.
