zkSync: account theft due to Twitter not following standard procedures, approving impostor's request to change password

04/16 04:06

zkSync has released a detailed report on the theft of its Twitter account, stating that "the impostor faked his identity and claimed to be an official representative of zkSync when he contacted Twitter support, unfortunately Twitter support staff did not follow standard procedures and approved the impersonator's request to change his email and password." As zkSync had 2FA enabled, the attacker was unable to access the account, but as the password had been changed and the team had logged out and was unable to access it, Twitter then secured the account and worked closely to resolve the issue. In addition Twitter has accelerated the application of the gold verified badge and all official affiliate accounts now have a small dotted zkSync symbol next to their name.
