Elon Musk: Twitter acquisition due to court pressure

04/12 12:23

Twitter CEO Elon Musk confessed in an interview with BBC reporter James Clayton that the decision to buy Twitter was due to pressure from the courts, and that he thought the final decision of the relevant court would require him to buy Twitter anyway. It is reported that Elon Musk first announced that he would buy Twitter in early April 2022 after refusing to join the Twitter board, and gave a purchase price of $43.4 billion, but met with strong resistance from the Twitter board. Elon Musk then unilaterally announced in September that the agreement to buy Twitter had been terminated, either due to the falling market or other factors, at which point the Twitter board again refused to terminate the acquisition and sued Musk to complete it. Musk eventually completed the acquisition of Twitter at the end of October 2022.
