Russia's Rosbank and Atomyze exchange gold and rubles digitally

02/09 20:51

Russia's Rosbank facilitated the first deal in Russia involving the exchange of a digital version of Russia's national legal tender, the ruble, for tokenised gold. The banking institution said that the successful transaction demonstrates the growing interest in digital financial assets and the demand for digital ruble payments. According to the press release, this is the first such transaction in the Russian Federation using distributed ledger technology and digital rubles. The latter is still being developed and tested and is expected to be fully rolled out next year. Rosbank said that once a trade offer for a digital asset is accepted, the buyer will settle with the investor in digital rubles.
