First pre-trial hearing in Microsoft's acquisition of Activision

A judge has scheduled the first pre-trial hearing in the US case against Microsoft over its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard for 3 January. This comes after the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which enforces antitrust laws, asked a judge to block the deal on the grounds that the merger would give Microsoft's Xbox exclusive rights to Activision games, leaving Nintendo consoles and Sony's PlayStation out in the cold.
