Ethereum infrastructure development company ConsenSys has updated its privacy policy, stating that when users use Infura as their default RPC provider in MetaMask, Infura will collect their IP address and their Ethereum wallet address when their send a transaction. However, if users are using their own Ethereum node or a third party RPC provider with MetaMask, then neither Infura nor MetaMask will collect their IP address or Ethereum wallet address (but their should be aware their information will be subject to whatever information collection performed by the RPC provider their are using and their terms regarding such collection).
