Roblox loses nearly $300 million in third quarter

The metaverse platform Roblox announced its financial report for the third quarter ended September 30. In the third quarter, Roblox lost $297.8 million, more than triple the loss of $74 million in the same period last year. In terms of revenue, Roblox’s operating income in the third quarter increased by 2% year-on-year to $517.7 million, compared with a 102% increase in the same period last year. Bookings revenue in the third quarter was $701.7 million, up 10% year-over-year, while Bookings grew 28% year-over-year in the same period last year. As of the end of the third quarter, Roblox had an average daily active user (DAU) of 58.8 million, an increase of 24% year-on-year and a 31% increase in the same period last year; the average Bookings per DAU was $11.94, down 11% from $13.49 in the same period last year.
