4,400 investors form URG group to track down Do Kwon, say he may be in Dubai

2022/10/19 19:28

Some 4,400 crypto investors have formed the UST Restitution Group (URG) to track down Terra founder Do Kwon globally, and URG members are already actively following leads, according to the Financial Times. Members of the group share their latest leads via Discord. Recent leads suggest that Kwon may be residing in Dubai, Russia, Azerbaijan, Seychelles or Mauritius. Kwon is more likely to be in Dubai due to the crypto-friendly policies there. One URG member said, "Dubai is crypto-friendly, very international (he would not be noticeable) and has limited extradition treaties. This seems to best explain the apparent 3-5 hour time difference in the data." Interpol is known to have previously issued a Red Notice for Do Kwon, but some URG members have accused the agency of inefficiency. URG members also include individuals who claim to have lost their life savings following the TerraUSD (UST) crash. Some have also organised class action lawsuits against Kwon and his company. As previously reported, Do Kwon has publicly stated that the charges against him in South Korea are "politically motivated" and has refused to confirm that he has left Singapore or to disclose his current whereabouts. Do Kwon reiterated that he is not "at large" as he has not seen the arrest warrant and all the information he knows about the charges is from the media.
