On May 12, Bakkt reported a net loss for the first quarter, attributed to a 77% drop in crypto services revenue, highlighting the digital asset platform's shift towards stablecoin payments and AI-driven financial infrastructure. On Monday, Bakkt announced that for the quarter ending March 31, the company recorded a net loss attributable to Bakkt of $11.7 million, equating to a basic and diluted loss per share of $0.41. In contrast, the same period last year saw a net profit of $7.7 million, with diluted earnings per share of $1.13. Bakkt stated that its crypto services revenue fell from $1.07 billion in the same quarter last year to $243.6 million, primarily due to a decline in cryptocurrency trading volume. However, this revenue was almost entirely offset by crypto-related costs and brokerage fees, which totaled $242 million for the quarter. Excluding crypto costs, operating expenses remained relatively stable at $18.5 million, slightly down from $18.9 million in the same quarter last year. The company's net loss was $11.7 million, compared to a net profit of $7.7 million in the same period last year. At the end of the quarter, Bakkt held $82.6 million in cash, including $69.6 million raised through equity financing. The company also disclosed that it currently has no long-term debt.

The project bandwidth is more than 25,000 messages per second on a single node, with the capacity of further scaling, said Alexander Kireev, technical director.
Compared to traditional approach used by SWIFT for example, the use of blockchain technology which allows information to be stored and processed in a decentralized way, makes it impossible to ban, sanction or disconnect users of the network in a unilateral centralized way.
This will create a secure and reliable environment for all participants, the developers emphasize.
