several Democratic senators in the United States threatened that unless the Republicans agree to hold public hearings with senior Trump administration officials on combating Iran, they will push for multiple war powers votes and obstruct Senate proceedings. Several Democrats, including Cory Booker of New Jersey and Tim Kaine of Virginia, said on Monday that they insist on holding public hearings with Secretary of State Rubio and Defense Secretary Hagerty, expressing dissatisfaction that all briefings so far have been confidential and behind closed doors. Kaine said, "There is a reason for secrecy, because you know this matter cannot withstand public scrutiny, so that's why we do it this way." These senators said they only represent themselves personally, not the entire Senate Democratic caucus. They added that they plan to use their limited power in the minority to delay Senate business until senior Trump officials publicly testify on the White House's reasons for striking Iran. (Jin10)
