Can perplexity be used to compare different NLP frameworks effectively?

Hey folks! Quick question for all you NLP enthusiasts out there: can we really use perplexity to compare different NLP frameworks? I mean, does it give us a fair picture of how they stack up against each other, or is it just another metric that doesn’t tell the whole story?
