The Nasdaq-listed company revealed it holds around $706 million worth of WLFI tokens, but these assets are subject to strict lock-up restrictions and cannot be sold or used for liquidity. At the same time, the company reported only $10.5 million in cash reserves, highlighting a severe liquidity mismatch.
Due to this imbalance, AI Financial stated there is “substantial doubt” about its ability to continue as a going concern and warned it may not survive through the end of the fiscal year without additional financing or improved access to its assets.
The company had previously raised roughly $1.5 billion to accumulate WLFI tokens, but the value of those holdings has since dropped by more than half, further straining its financial position. It also maintains a related-party loan with World Liberty Financial, adding another layer of complexity and scrutiny.
This situation highlights a key risk in digital asset treasury strategies: large paper valuations can mask underlying liquidity problems when holdings are locked or illiquid.
