Ethereum has reclaimed $1,750, giving bulls their first meaningful sign of a wider recovery. However, the long-term downtrend remains intact unless $ETH breaks resistance, leaving $2,100 above and $1,200 below as the two major scenarios.Ethereum is testing the same descending trendline that has rejected every major recovery attempt since 2025. Another failure near $1,850 could keep the bearish structure intact and expose significantly lower support.The chart highlights four contacts with the trendline, near $4,600, $3,300, $2,400 and now $1,850. Each previous rejection produced a lower high followed by renewed selling, showing that buyers have repeatedly failed to change the wider trend.

$ETH must close above the trendline and hold it during a retest before the current bounce can become a credible reversal. A brief move above resistance followed by an immediate drop would instead risk trapping late buyers.

If sellers regain control, $1,500 is the first major area to watch. Losing that support could open the way toward $1,315 and the projected $1,200 target.

The bearish case would weaken if Ethereum breaks the trendline and begins forming higher weekly highs. Until then, the latest recovery remains another bounce inside a broader downtrend.

Ethereum has turned the $1,750 level back into support, marking its first meaningful support-resistance flip during the current downtrend. Holding this area could signal a broader shift in market structure and open the way toward $2,100.

The proposal to freeze bitcoin's quantum-vulnerable coins has always carried an asterisk.

BIP-361, published in April by Jameson Lopp and five co-authors, would block new deposits to vulnerable addresses after three years and freeze whatever remained after five, stranding coins in more than a third of bitcoin's supply, including the roughly 1.1 million BTC attributed to pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

A later step of that plan promised a recovery path using zero-knowledge proofs, a technology that lets someone prove to another person that they know a fact without ever revealing it.

Quantum research outfit Project Eleven says it has now built exactly that, and made it fast enough to use.

Q-Day is a theoretical point at which a quantum computer could derive a private key from a public key, allowing an attacker to sign transactions from any address whose public key has ever been exposed.

More than 34% of all bitcoin sits in that category, according to BIP-361. After Q-Day, a signature would prove nothing because the attacker can produce one as easily as the owner. The chain cannot tell them apart.

Bitcoin signatures rely on elliptic curve cryptography, a system in which a private key generates a public key through math that runs only one way. Anyone can check the public key, but nobody can work backward to the private one. However, Shor’s algorithm, a quantum method published in 1994 for problems that ordinary computers cannot crack, can be fed a public key and return the private key that generated it.

The treasury transfer stems from the July 6 governance exploit, in which a malicious proposal enabled the attacker to gain control of 4.426 trillion BONK tokens valued at roughly $21.2 million. Since the incident, the wallet has gradually distributed a portion of the tokens while still holding around 2.4 trillion BONK, currently valued at $6.94 million.

The continued token sales have coincided with sustained weakness in BONK’s price. The meme coin has declined roughly 40% since the governance incident, as traders remain cautious about the possibility of additional supply entering the market.
