Institutional investors in Japan are turning to Bitcoin and XRP as SBI VC Trade reaches 2 million registered accounts.

SBI VC Trade is seeing increased platform usage from both retail and institutional investors as Bitcoin and XRP expand their applications in shareholder compensation systems.

In a statement, SBI VC Trade, the digital asset division of Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings, announced it has reached a significant user milestone. The number of registered accounts on the crypto platform has surpassed 2 million, as demand for its products continues to grow.

Furthermore, SBI VC Trade also reported increased institutional demand for Bitcoin and XRP, the two largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. Companies are now using the pair to pay their shareholders bonuses amid a weakening yen.

SBI VC Trade Reaches 2 Million Users
The exchange announced that as of Monday, June 6, its number of accounts had exceeded 2 million.  This means that 69,000 new users have been added from March to date, while the total number of users stood at 1.93 million.

Notably, the data is obtained from both the VCTRADE and Bitpoint service platforms, the report notes. Bitpoint Japan became part of the SBI Group through a merger in April 2026, further strengthening the institution's position in the cryptocurrency space.

SBI VC Trade emphasized that the increase in accounts is due to improved customer services. The company claims to be the only electronic payment exchange in Japan and continues to increase stablecoin trading volumes, providing convenience for clients.

Bitcoin and XRP Drive Institutional Adoption of SBIVC for Prime

The report also notes that SBI VC Trade's corporate service, SBIVC for Prime, is seeing strong demand from companies, especially amid a weakening yen.  For those unfamiliar, the Japanese yen has fallen to a nearly 40-year low amid economic difficulties.
