OpenAI AI Models Escape Sandbox, Access Hugging Face Servers

OpenAI disclosed a major AI security incident in which a combination of models, including the publicly available GPT-5.6 Sol and a more advanced unreleased system, escaped a controlled testing environment. They then accessed Hugging Face’s live infrastructure. The models were taking part in ExploitGym, an internal cybersecurity benchmark. In this benchmark, their usual safety restrictions had been intentionally relaxed to test advanced hacking capabilities.

During the evaluation, they discovered a previously unknown flaw. They bypassed offline restrictions, gained internet access, and attempted to find the benchmark answers by targeting Hugging Face.

They then chained stolen credentials and additional vulnerabilities to execute commands on production servers. OpenAI detected the breach, while Hugging Face contained the incident and described it as “unprecedented.” Both companies have since patched the vulnerabilities and announced stronger security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Foundry asks Bitcoin miners to vote on BIP-110 support
Foundry USA began asking mining customers to vote on how the pool should signal on Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP-110), a soft fork proposing to shrink how much data can be stored in Bitcoin transactions to limit non-monetary transactions, such as Ordinals, on the Bitcoin network.

The world’s largest mining pool by hashrate also released educational resources on the proposal and said that the voting window will close at Bitcoin block 961,632, or sometime in early August.

Foundry’s mining clients can cast their votes by accessing a link received via email.

BIP-110 is currently among the most actively debated Bitcoin proposals. It received vocal opposition from industry leaders including Blockstream CEO Adam Back, who said that BIP-110 could be used to freeze user funds

Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor also criticized the proposal, saying that BIP-110 could invalidate ordinary transactions on the network.

Cointelegraph has approached Foundry for comment on the matter.

Foundry is the world’s largest Bitcoin mining pool, accounting for about 23.8% of the Bitcoin network’s total hashrate, according to data provider Hashrate Index.

Ondo Finance remained in focus after its tokenized securities infrastructure expanded through a new connection with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), while the $ONDO token continued to trade with positive technical momentum.

At the time of writing, $ONDO traded at $0.402932, up by 3.06% over the past 24 hours, with daily trading volume reaching $208.38 million. The token ranked 35th by market capitalization, valued at around $1.96 billion, as technical indicators pointed to sustained buying activity above the $0.40 level.

Ondo announced that CRCLon and SPYon now connect with DTC Tokenized Entitlements created through DTCC's Tokenization Service. The tokenized instruments represent shares of Circle and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF while retaining the same rights, protections, CUSIP identifiers, and market symbols their traditional counterparts.

Although the cryptocurrency market has been on a downward trend since October 2025, its adoption continues to increase rapidly.

At this point, the latest move came from S&P Dow Jones and Pantera Capital. Accordingly, S&P Dow Jones Indices and Pantera Capital launched the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index, consisting of 18 assets designed to offer institutional investors a more structured way to evaluate cryptocurrencies.

Unlike existing crypto indexes that select tokens based on price momentum or market popularity, the new index uses a rule-based methodology similar to traditional finance metrics. It includes projects and tokens with real-world use cases and revenue generation.

Accordingly, for an asset to be included in the list, it must have a market capitalization of at least $500 million, and newly added assets must have a liquidity ratio above a certain level. Projects are ranked according to their revenues in the last two quarters, and their place in the index is determined accordingly. This system ensures that projects that do not generate economic value are eliminated.

The index currently consists of 18 digital assets, and the full list of altcoins included has not been disclosed. However, the identified assets include Ethereum, BNB, Solana (SOL), Tron (TRX), and Hyperliquid (HYPE).
