Doctor Profit, a closely followed trader in the cryptocurrency market, announced that he has closed all his short positions in Bitcoin and altcoins and has resumed buying spot BTC.

Doctor Profit stated that among the positions he closed were a short position opened when Bitcoin was between $115,000 and $125,000, as well as another Bitcoin short position created in the $79,000 to $82,000 range. The trader also said that he closed all of the short positions he had opened for more than 100 altcoins in the last few months and made significant profits from these trades.

Doctor Profit announced that it repurchased Bitcoin on the spot market at the $64,000 level. He stated that this purchase marks his first long-term Bitcoin investment since September 2025.

According to the trader’s plan, as long as the Bitcoin price remains between $54,000 and $64,000, he will make daily spot purchases using 5% of his total investment capital. This strategy is planned to last for a maximum of 20 days, and the amount purchased will be increased if Bitcoin approaches the $54,000 level.

Doctor Profit stated that he observed a significant “herd behavior” in the current market conditions. He noted that many investors who previously predicted Bitcoin would rise to $150,000 now expect the price to fall to the $40,000 to $50,000 range.

Circle President Heath Tarbert has defended the company’s long-term strategy after Circle shares fell sharply from their post-IPO peak.

Speaking in a July 14 interview with FOX Business, Tarbert said management remains focused on building financial infrastructure rather than reacting to short-term moves in the stock.

The interview came as Circle faced growing investor concern over competition in the stablecoin market. CRCL had traded near $260 after its public debut before falling toward the low $60 range. Tarbert said Circle is “playing the long game” and argued that successful execution would eventually support shareholder value.

Tarbert said Circle’s main focus remains building a full-stack internet financial platform around $USDC and related infrastructure. He argued that the company’s position cannot be measured only through daily stock movements and said the stock should “take care of itself” if Circle delivers on its wider mission.

He also defended $USDC against new competitors. Tarbert pointed to roughly $73 billion in circulation and native support across 34 blockchains, saying those network effects would be “incredibly hard to replicate.” Circle describes $USDC as a regulated digital dollar used across trading, payments and settlement.

The comments came after Open Standard launched Open USD, a planned stablecoin backed by more than 140 participating businesses. The group includes Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, BNY and Coinbase. Open Standard says partners can mint and redeem Open USD without fees and receive reserve earnings after a management charge.

As reported by crypto.news, Circle shares fell 17.5% to $62.63 after Open USD entered the market and CRCL left several Russell Growth indexes. The decline added to concerns about whether new stablecoin models could pressure Circle’s economics.

The FBI is seeking potential victims who downloaded eight games named in its Steam malware investigation, a case that shows crypto custody can fail before a wallet ever opens.

In a separate federal complaint reported by Local 10, agents allege an eight-game campaign infected about 8,000 devices, gained unauthorized access to roughly 80 crypto wallets, and stole at least $220,000.

Local 10 reported that agents arrested 21-year-old Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins on July 14 and accused him of financing and procuring malware and helping market the infected games. The complaint describes the venue only as a “popular digital distribution software company.” Wilkins is presumed innocent unless convicted.
The FBI notice lists BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse, DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi and Tokenova, and places the suspected Steam activity between May 2024 and January 2026. Local 10 reported that the complaint dates its broader alleged campaign through February 2026.
