Ethereum’s $38 billion decentralized finance (DeFi) TVL represents a 53% market share, signaling institutional investors’ preference. Additionally, when including its layer-2 scaling solutions, the Ethereum ecosystem accounts for 43% of decentralized exchange (DEX) volumes. However, Ethereum faces criticism for relatively low 30-day fees of $11 million.

Despite controlled $ETH issuance at 0.8% equivalent annual inflation, the staking reward rate was 2.7%, lower than the US money market yield. Adding to investors' concerns, the publicly listed company BitMine (BMNR US) held $9.3 billion in unrealized losses on its $ETH reserves. The company, led by its Chairman Tom Lee, continues to increase its position.

Even though there is no imminent risk of BitMine being forced to reduce its $ETH holdings, the situation likely deters institutional investors’ appetite. More concerningly, US-listed Ether spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) posted net outflows for six consecutive weeks. Crypto critic Roubini joins tokenization boom with onchain 'Technodollar'Nouriel Roubini, the economist known as "Dr. Doom" for predicting the 2008 financial crisis and who later became one of crypto's most vocal critics, is making his first move into blockchain-based finance.

Roubini co-authored a whitepaper for USAFi, a tokenized investment product being developed by Atlas Capital Team, according to a Tuesday announcement.

USAFi is the tokenized version of the Atlas America Fund (USAF), an ETF overseen by Roubini and listed on Nasdaq. Atlas described the token as a blockchain-based security that gives investors exposure to the underlying fund while allowing it to move and settle on blockchain rails.

The company plans to launch the asset in the third quarter under Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) framework, the firm said.

Securitize, one of the largest tokenization platforms, said in an X post that it was selected to provide the tokenization infrastructure for the project, calling it Roubini's "first move into blockchain."

The launch is the latest example of tokenization, a fast-growing sector that puts traditional assets such as funds, bonds and stocks on blockchain networks. Supporters argue the technology can make assets easier to transfer and settle, reach a wider set of investors globally while enabling around-the-clock trading.

Major firms including BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and Apollo have launched tokenized investment products, helping drive the market for tokenized assets above $30 billion excluding stablecoins, according to rwa.xyz data.

KG Inicis, South Korea's largest payment gateway operator, is set to integrate stablecoin payments on the @Solana blockchain, marking one of the most significant moves by a mainstream Asian payments firm into on-chain infrastructure.

The company processes enormous transaction volumes. After handling over 25 million KRW in annual payments, it is now adding stablecoins as a supported online payment method. Beyond checkout functionality, the platform also plans to introduce token-based rewards for merchants, creating a new incentive layer on top of its existing payments network.

An analysis shared by Cryptoquant on June 23 showed a split in positioning on Gate crypto exchange, with select altcoins recording stronger outflows than inflows while other cryptocurrencies attracted increased deposits. The findings were based on the Gate Netflow Heatmap, which tracks inflows and outflows across multiple crypto assets.

The data showed a group of tokens recording stronger outflows than inflows, a pattern often associated with accumulation activity.

The analyst explained:

“Some altcoins are leaving Gate more than others. This may be an early sign of accumulation.”

The analysis identified several assets showing stronger outflows than inflows, including voyager token (VGX), amp (AMP), 0x (ZRX), the sandbox (SAND), quant (QNT), yearn.finance (YFI), YFF, chiliz (CHZ), aavegotchi (GHST), decentraland (MANA), jasmycoin (JASMY), and compound (COMP). Exchange withdrawals can indicate that investors are moving holdings into private wallets rather than keeping them available for immediate trading.

Investors may be prioritizing these assets for accumulation and future speculation, according to the analysis. Those positions were reflected in the stronger outflow activity observed on Gate.



Several Major Tokens Record Stronger Exchange Deposits
Not all assets followed the same pattern. Several prominent cryptocurrencies registered larger inflows than outflows during the period examined, suggesting a different set of market behaviors among traders.
