It's now the altcoin market that's grabbing everyone's attention, as traders examine which projects may get more attention in the upcoming “market rotation”. Some of the names that are being kept an eye on include Polygon (MATIC), Pi Network (PI), Sui (SUI), Aptos (APT), and Chainlink (LINK). Every project takes place in a different area of the cryptocurrency business, presenting investors with a number of different motifs to think about. 

Both the two cryptocurrencies still have areas that are relevant to blockchain interoperability and cross-chain infrastructure, but Polkadot has been more involved with that space, while Pi Network has been more involved in establishing a cryptocurrency ecosystem around the participation of mobile devices. Sui and Aptos have created Layer 1 networks that are optimized for digital assets and decentralized applications. 

On the other hand, Chainlink is more closely connected to blockchain oracles that link smart contracts to data from outside the blockchain. They have different roles so it may be that performance will be market dependent on different catalysts. With changing market conditions, focus might turn to networks that are still under active development, have an increasing usage base, expanded infrastructure, or expanding application base. But greater attention doesn't equate to price increases, and every asset is subject to its own risk.

Trail of Bits disclosed a Provenance Blockchain authorization flaw that it said exposed 82 live mainnet asset accounts to takeover. A successful abuse could let someone mint an affected token or withdraw assets held in escrow.

Those special asset accounts, called markers, govern a token's supply, permissions, and escrow balance. The security firm said the flaw allowed a user who held none of a marker's tokens to take its admin, mint, and withdrawal permissions, then act on them in a second transaction.

The bug came from a mismatch between two records of token supply. For non-fixed markers, Provenance's bank module tracks live circulating supply, while the marker's supply field can remain at zero.

The authorization check read the stale marker field when testing whether an account held the entire supply. Because a new account's balance was also zero, the check treated zero as equal to zero and approved the permission change.

Trail of Bits said all 82 affected markers had zero stored supply while carrying real circulating supply or assets in escrow.

The disclosed affected nhash escrow totaled roughly 30 quadrillion nhash, worth about $500,000 at HASH prices when the issue was discovered. Three Provenance Blockchain Foundation programs held most of it: grant0051 held about 19.23 quadrillion nhash,

Shinhan and Visa team up to test stablecoin issuance and B2B settlements in South Korea

Shinhan Financial Group (55550), one of South Korea’s five largest financial conglomerates, plans to build stablecoin infrastructure and develop AI-powered payment models alongside Visa, South Korean news outlet FNNews reported.

Seoul-based Shinhan intends to use Visa’s stablecoin platform to verify core functions, including issuance, remittance and redemption, while jointly designing a Korea-specific business model.

The deal marks the first time a South Korean top-tier financial group formally adopts Visa's enterprise stablecoin infrastructure, launched in July, to test a full domestic settlement stack. The agreement gives Visa a head start over Mastercard in bank-native stablecoin settlement infrastructure in South Korea. Mastercard's crypto partnerships in the country have so far stopped short of full stablecoin settlement integration.

Visa and Shinhan also plan to run pilot projects covering stablecoin integration into bank card payment settlement and the expansion of business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) payments.

Gemini Enterprise serves as base

Google built the legal offering as a plugin that runs inside the existing Gemini Enterprise platform instead of creating a totally new app. The tech giant calls it “a legal plugin inside the Gemini Enterprise app, not a separate application your team logs into.”

The system is focused on four key parts that drive the platform. These include specialized skills that help to put agents through the details of legal work, and secure connectors into software a firm already has running prior. There are also third-party agents from legal-tech vendors, and a governance layer that allows control and access for IT and risk staff.

Connector list for new platform

Connections run over Model Context Protocol, with a very long list of systems on the roster. Google named iManage, NetDocuments, Everlaw, RelativityOne, DocuSign, Thomson Reuters, Harvey, Legora, and the Free Law Project’s CourtListener database, among others. Consultants and legal-service providers including Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, and Factor Law are also available to handle launches.

The tech firm says client files, firm strategies, and outputs from the models stay within a customer’s private cloud and are never used in training its foundation models. The company also emphasizes the need for traceable citations.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said that accuracy was the core problem, and claimed making agentic legal work “accurate, factual, and grounded in legal authority is of critical importance,” in a
