Ali Martinez reported that active addresses climbed from 47,180 to 356,070, an astonishing 654.71% increase in days. A spike of this size usually reflects a sharp rise in participation and can come alongside increased volatility in the token’s price.

If this is really the start of a new $XRP trend, analyst Casi Trades said that the $1.20 level could soon become a thing of the past. She expects the asset to first move toward $1.78, followed by a pullback to roughly $1.30 before another push to $2.57.

The full five-wave structure could eventually take $XRP to around $2.90, according to the analysis, completing Wave 1 of a much larger macro Wave 3. A later correction may bring the asset back toward $1.65, which could turn the resistance seen today into support. In that scenario, the important point is not just how high $XRP could go, but whether the token ever gets another chance to trade below $1.20.

As the Ripple token cleared seven months of resistance with a roughly 70% gain in one weekly candle from the accumulation zone, Crypto Patel said that the focus is now turning to $1.55. Holding above that level could set up another bullish move, while a break below may lead to retracement or re-accumulation. The $5-$10 range remains the long-term target.

UN Adopts DFINITY AI & Cloud Tech for Governments – Why Isn’t ICP Rallying?On August 25, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) officially partnered with the DFINITY Foundation (the non-profit behind Internet Computer or $ICP) to develop government-based AI and cloud systems.

According to the official announcement, the coalition will run for a year, during which the UN will test the effectiveness and safety of AI and cloud infrastructure that have been specifically tailored to public services.

Goals for UN partnership with DFINITY
Notably, the pilot will take place in three major avenues. The first is educational platforms where several governments will collaborate with DFINITY to customize and test decentralized frameworks for public education.

The second is public software development, where the team will test customized application development using DFINITY’S cloud engines and Caffeine AI. The latter is a specialized engine that enables autonomous agents to write code for other AI.

Finally, the project will test how well it can enable government self-custody in secure software deployment. This is meant to eliminate the need for local public service entities to share data with global tech giants.

Project scope and blockchain history
The UN will select five countries to participate in the above project, with each country presenting a national problem that would benefit from Web3 technology.

DFINITY and Pakistan’s Digital Authority launched a similar system earlier this year, enabling the country to keep national data within its borders.

Meanwhile, the UN has been researching blockchain-based technology for several months now following its deployment of a Blockchain Advisory Group.

Foreign crypto businesses now face broader sanctions exposure when dealing with Iran-linked counterparties following the Treasury Department’s latest economic campaign. The Treasury launched Operation Economic Outcast on Aug. 24, targeting nearly 60 entities, individuals, and vessels connected to Iranian nuclear, missile, cyber, and oil networks.

Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis wrote:

“One of the most sweeping components of the package is a first-of-its-kind sectoral determination that allows OFAC to sanction anyone globally that operates in or supports Iran’s digital assets sector.”

“OFAC additionally targeted individuals supporting Iran through crypto-enabled trade payments and theft,” Chainalysis added.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) expanded its authority under Executive Order 13902 to cover five Iranian economic sectors. The determination includes Iran’s digital asset sector alongside aviation, gold, shipping, and technology, allowing OFAC to sanction people found to operate in those sectors.

The designation extends an enforcement campaign that previously focused on specific exchanges and transactions tied to sanctioned Iranian parties. OFAC sanctioned four major Iranian crypto exchanges in June, including Nobitex, which handled more than half of Iran’s digital asset inflows during 2025, according to the Treasury.

$100M Crypto Network Supports Iranian Oil Sales

The latest package targets Ukrainian national Ivan Obukhov, a United Arab Emirates-based broker accused of facilitating oil shipments for Iran’s military and its proxies. Since 2023, Obukhov has processed more than $100 million in cryptocurrency payments supporting oil sales for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force, according to Treasury and Chainalysis.

Recently, several bullish signals have emerged in the market. Robinhood mentioned that more countries may follow the US in establishing strategic reserves; Standard Chartered Bank reiterated its $500,000 target for Bitcoin; and Changpeng Zhao and Arthur Hayes continued to express bullish views. Meanwhile, Strategy's launch of a $1.6 billion funding plan further reinforced market expectations of continued Bitcoin purchases.

The report also mentioned that Strive reportedly increased its holdings by over 1,100 BTC with approximately $80 million, bringing its total holdings to over 21,000 BTC. The continued accumulation by multiple institutions, coupled with more aggressive price predictions, has further fueled the bullish narrative in the market.

 A Divergence Between Retail and Medium-Sized Holding Addresses

However, on-chain address balance data does not show that all groups are chasing the price increase. Addresses holding 0.001 to 1 BTC have seen a continuous decline in holdings since late July, with no significant replenishment in August. Addresses holding 1 to 100 BTC have also been distributing their holdings since mid-July.

In contrast, addresses holding 100 to 1000 BTC, after a continuous decline from May to early July, have recently resumed increasing their holdings. Addresses holding 1000 to 10,000 BTC, after selling in early August, have also shown signs of accumulating again.
