BitMart shuts down trading as BMX crashes more than 60% BitMart has started a phased shutdown of its global cryptocurrency exchange after reviewing its operating conditions, market environment, and future strategy.

According to the official shutdown notice, the exchange stopped new registrations, cryptocurrency and fiat deposits, and new spot orders from 01:30 UTC on July 26.

Futures accounts entered reduce-only mode, while copy trading, grid trading, API trading, and other automated services began winding down.

The exchange will end all spot, futures, and other trading services at 01:00 UTC on August 26. However, the full platform will not close on that date. BitMart plans to terminate trading-platform operations at 15:59 UTC on January 31, 2027. Users will retain limited account access for a period after that date to review records and submit withdrawals.

Bitcoin Miner Poolin Files Bankruptcy, Seeks $52M Texas Asset Sale


Singapore-based Bitcoin mining company Poolin on July 22 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New Jersey, alongside its US affiliates Lonestar Dream Inc. and Lonestar Taproot LLC. The firm is also looking for court approval for a $52 million sale of its Texas mining properties.

The bankruptcy filing comes nearly four years after Poolin froze customer withdrawals, leaving thousands of wallet users with IOU tokens and turning a mining business failure into a long-running creditor dispute.

Poolin Enters Chapter 11 With $173 Million in Liabilities

Court records filed in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey show Poolin listed between 10,001 and 25,000 creditors, with petition assets estimated between $1 million and $10 million.

Chief Restructuring Officer Michael DuFrayne’s declaration placed prepetition obligations at about $173.1 million, with roughly $163.7 million tied to unsecured IOUs issued to Poolin Wallet customers.

The company’s current bankruptcy case is focused on selling its Texas assets rather than rebuilding its mining operations. Lonestar Dream stopped mining and hosting activities at its Pyote and Tarbush sites on July 10, according to the filing documents.

Poolin has entered asset purchase agreements with Thor CALAP LLC for a combined $52 million stalking-horse bid. The offer includes $15 million for the Pyote property and associated power rights and equipment, plus $37 million for Tarbush power rights and equipment. The deal remains subject to competing bids and court approvals.

Dormant Shiba Inu Whale Ends Seven-Month Silence With 30 Billion SHIB Purchase From Binance
A previously inactive Shiba Inu whale has resumed accumulating the token after spending more than seven months on the sidelines. 

According to on-chain data from Arkham Intelligence, the whale recently purchased 30.18 billion Shiba Inu in a single transaction valued at $125,270. The transaction quickly attracted the attention of the Shiba Inu community, as it marked the whale’s first significant purchase in months.

Before the latest acquisition, the whale had not bought any SHIB for over seven months. The previous purchase occurred in December 2025, when the address acquired 70 million SHIB. A month earlier, the same wallet accumulated more than 20 billion SHIB through four separate transactions. 

Following the recent purchase, the wallet’s holdings have increased to 50.28 billion SHIB, currently worth $210,710. SHIB also remains the largest asset in the wallet by dollar value, highlighting the investor’s continued conviction in the token.

Coinbase Warns Crypto's Protection Could Eventually Break

Crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) has started preparing its custody systems and infrastructure for a future in which powerful quantum computers could defeat the cryptography protecting Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchain networks.

Coinbase Chief Information Security Officer Jeff Lunglhofer outlined the company's position in a July 23 company blog post:

"A large-scale quantum computer capable of breaking current cryptography will eventually be built. No one knows exactly when. But the work to prepare needs to start now, not when it's urgent."

The company said its Independent Advisory Board on Quantum Computing and Blockchain has high confidence that a fault-tolerant quantum computer will eventually be developed. Coinbase formed the board to assess long-term quantum risks facing digital assets, according to Coinbase's quantum advisory board announcement.

"The cryptography that secures virtually every major blockchain is vulnerable when it arrives. The threat is not imminent, but the timeline is genuinely uncertain," Lunglhofer added.

The warning does not suggest that quantum computers can currently defeat the cryptography securing major blockchains. Instead, Coinbase araues that uparadina alobal blockchain svstems.

Hoskinson Says Cardano Treasury Can Fund $100M+ Ecosystem Growth This Year Despite ADA Decline
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has argued that the network remains financially strong despite its recent decline in the cryptocurrency market rankings. 

According to him, Cardano’s on-chain treasury continues to generate enough funding to support the ecosystem’s long-term growth. 

Speaking during an interview on The Starting Block, Hoskinson acknowledged that Cardano’s market cap has fallen to around $6 billion, pushing the cryptocurrency out of the top 10 by market value. Nonetheless, he stressed that the network still has sufficient financial resources to fund more than $100 million in ecosystem development this year.

Hoskinson explained that Cardano’s treasury is financed through the blockchain’s economic model, which channels a portion of network revenue and protocol inflation into an on-chain treasury. Through Cardano’s governance system, the community can then vote on how those funds are allocated to support the ecosystem.

According to him, the treasury can finance a budget exceeding $100 million this year. The funding could support a wide range of initiatives, including software development, infrastructure upgrades, research, developer tools, educational programs, and other projects designed to strengthen the Cardano network.
