Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy has just revealed a new acquisition involving 22,337 BTC, making it the fifth-largest purchase ever by the company.

Strategy Has Expanded Bitcoin Treasury With Another $1.57 Billion Buy
In a new post on X, Strategy co-founder and chairman Michael Saylor has shared the details related to the latest Bitcoin acquisition completed by the treasury company. This buy saw the addition of 22,337 BTC to Strategy’s reserves, which is one of the largest purchases ever made by the firm.

The last time that the company made a larger buy was all the way back in November 2024, when it added 55,500 BTC in one swoop. That same month actually also saw two other purchases larger than the latest one, involving 51,780 and 27,200 tokens. Finally, there was also a larger acquisition of 29,646 BTC in 2020, meaning that the new buy is the fifth largest on record.

In US dollar terms, the purchase cost Strategy $70,194 per token or $1.57 billion in total. While its the fifth largest buy in BTC denomination, it’s only the ninth largest in the USD. The difference is due to the company having to spend more on some smaller stacks as a consequence of a higher BTCUSD rate at the time.

As is tradition, Saylor teased the new buy in a Sunday X post, this time sharing the company’s Bitcoin portfolio tracker with the caption “Stretch the Orange Dots.”

According to the filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Strategy funded this new acquisition using proceeds from its STRC and MSTR at-the-market (ATM) stock offerings. The purchase has now taken the firm’s total holdings to 761,068 BTC, equivalent to about 3.8% of the cryptocurrency’s supply in circulation.

XRP ETFs recorded the sixth consecutive day of outflows, with the previous day’s fueled by 21Shares’ TOXR.

As per SoSoValue, traders withdrew about $5.98 million from TOXR, while other XRP ETFs recorded zero flows. TOXR net inflow was red, while others were all green.

The trend indicated there was competition from other ETFs like Ethereum and Bitcoin, which were back to green over the past five days. Still, prices of the products were up by more than 9% as cumulative net inflow remained around $1.2 billio

The outflows indicated weak short-term demand for ETFs as capital rotation remained limited. Therefore, this could be a hurdle going forward, thus affecting the price of the native token, XRP.

Cryptocurrency analytics company GreeksLive assessed current market expectations and their potential impact on Bitcoin ahead of the Fed’s interest rate decision tomorrow.

According to the company’s analysis, futures markets are almost certain that the Fed will not change interest rates at its March meeting. Based on current pricing, there is a 99% probability that rates will remain unchanged in the 3.5%–3.75% range. A similar scenario is emerging for the April meeting, with markets pricing in a “no interest rate change” scenario with a 97% probability.

According to GreeksLive, the next two FED meetings could be among the most critical turning points of the year for the cryptocurrency market. Analysts point out that the global macroeconomic environment is quite complex, noting that the war in the Middle East, in particular, is pushing energy prices higher, which is putting renewed pressure on inflation (PCE). With these developments, the “interest rate cut optimism” at the beginning of the year has gradually given way to expectations of “high interest rates for a long time.”

Among the dates closely watched by the market, March 18 and April 29 stand out. At the March 18 meeting, attention will be particularly focused on the “dot plot” data, which shows the Fed’s future interest rate projections. According to the analysis, there is a possibility that these projections will not foresee any interest rate cuts by 2026. The April 29 meeting is of particular importance; this will be the last critical decision-making meeting before Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s term ends. It is stated that Powell’s messages at this meeting could be decisive in determining liquidity conditions in the second half of the year.
