On June 20, the U.S. Department of Justice reported that 25-year-old Isiah Garcia and 24-year-old Raymond Garcia pleaded guilty on Thursday in federal court in Minneapolis. They admitted to traveling from Texas to Grant, Minnesota, on September 19, 2025, where they armed themselves and forcibly entered a home, binding the victims and their family members with zip ties while coercing them to surrender access to their cryptocurrency accounts. Isiah then forced one victim to drive to the family's vacation cabin in northern Minnesota, compelling them to retrieve additional cryptocurrency storage devices and complete the transfer. The entire ordeal lasted over eight hours, resulting in the theft of more than $8 million in cryptocurrency. Ultimately, the victim's son called 911, prompting the brothers to flee the scene. However, investigators identified the suspects through items left behind in the house and apprehended them near Houston. Both men acknowledged threatening the victims with a firearm and have agreed to forfeit over $8 million in stolen funds. Each robbery charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison, with sentencing dates yet to be determined.
