Worldcoin jumped 120%. Inside the Sam Altman identity bet
A public company put $406 million behind it, OpenAI filed to go public, and a token built to prove you are human in a world of AI machines surged. The Worldcoin rally is a bet on one idea: that proving humanity becomes valuable precisely as artificial intelligence makes it scarce.Worldcoin’s token, $WLD, surged more than 120% from its late-May lows near $0.27 to trade around $0.59 to $0.67 in mid-June 2026, including a 20% jump in a single day on June 15. The immediate trigger was a disclosure: Eightco Holdings, a public company, revealed it holds 283.45 million $WLD, about 8.4% of the circulating supply, worth roughly $406 million, making it the largest publicly disclosed institutional holder of the token.

RippleX chief engineer Ayo Akinyele has revealed the strategy behind a major security upgrade for $XRP Ledger (XRPL), which is designed to completely change the network's approach to micropayments. In a recent YouTube interview, the developer described in detail a plan to adapt the blockchain to two major industry challenges: quantum supercomputers and the artificial intelligence economy.

According to Akinyele, $XRP Ledger is set for a modernization aimed at attracting the largest financial institutions. To achieve this, the upgraded ledger will focus on enhanced privacy, real-world asset tokenization, and new DeFi standards.

How Ripple is getting ahead of the quantum threat before 2029

The crypto industry has long debated whether quantum machines could break the security of leading networks, including Bitcoin, but now this uncertainty is no longer abstract, Akinyele believes. A recent study by the Google AI team shows that the critical threshold could arrive as early as 2029, as new algorithms may be able to bypass classic digital signatures in just nine minutes.

"We cannot afford to be unprepared," he stressed, and that is why the RippleX team began working ahead of the curve back in 2024–2025 together with cryptographers Dennis Ongu and Arthav Ali.

Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz placed $XRP utility at the center of a June 17 post on X ahead of Ripple Swell 2026, pointing to new ways people are using the asset across finance and blockchain applications. The post focused on builders, community participation, and practical use cases rather than event logistics.

$XRP’s role in payments, tokenization, interoperability, decentralized finance, and artificial intelligence formed the core of Schwartz’s remarks. Ripple has described Swell 2026 as its largest Swell event yet, with more than 1,500 attendees, over 75 speakers, more than 50 sessions, and three stages in New York City.

Schwartz wrote:

“I hear this will be the largest Ripple Swell yet. I wouldn’t miss it.”

The speaker list so far includes Matt Damon, co-founder of Water.org; Tom Farley, chairman and CEO of Bullish; Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple; Billy Hult, CEO of Tradeweb; Monica Long, president of Ripple; and Schwartz. The lineup places Ripple executives alongside finance, exchange, and philanthropic leaders.

Recent $XRP commentary has increasingly focused on adoption beyond short-term price action. Alexis Sirkia, chairman of Yellow Network, recently pointed to $XRP activity across payments, tokenization, liquidity provision, and settlement, while noting continued building by institutions, developers, and businesses.

Ripple’s own positioning has reinforced that utility theme. CEO Brad Garlinghouse has cited $XRP’s three-to-five-second settlement, fractions-of-a-penny transaction costs, scalability, and more than 4 billion completed transactions as factors behind its payments-focused positioning.

‘Bitcoin Is the Best Performing Asset and Nobody Wants It,’ Expert Opens Up About Altcoins

Bitcoin bounced from just below $59,000 to $67,000 in the space of a week, Ethereum and Solana both surged 10% to 11% in a single session, and privacy tokens, AI tokens and several of the hottest narratives from earlier in the cycle are lighting up again. 

The question every crypto investor is asking right now is the same one it always is at moments like this: is this the real thing or just another bear market trap?

Expert John Gillen says it is too early to say.

A Strong Bounce, Not a Bull Market

“The market still has to prove one way or the other what this is,” Gillen said in a recent interview. 

He has spent the past ten months calling price targets within a downtrend and is not prepared to abandon that framework based on a single week of green candles, however encouraging they feel.

His base case is that $60,000 may prove to be the cycle low but he is not yet convinced. “There’s a non-zero chance, a significant chance at this point, that retest of the lows is a double bottom pattern and we just continue higher from there. But I don’t see us just getting a runaway bullish reversal just yet,” he said.

The path he expects for the summer is one of continued choppy price action with periods of both weakness and strength. Bitcoin could dip back below $60,000 before a breakout materialises. 

Getting above $75,000 is where he would start asking different questions about what comes next. At $67,000, he said, “it doesn’t really move the needle for me one way or the other.”

Standard Chartered Called the Bottom. Gillen Is Not So Sure.

Geoffrey Kendrick, head of digital assets at Standard Chartered, recently declared the crypto winter over and called $59,000 the cycle bottom. Gillen’s response was generous but cautious.
