Bitcoin and Ethereum traded lower on Thursday as Consensus Miami 2026 entered its final session, with the broader crypto market giving back some of this week's gains even as US equities pushed to fresh record highs.

$BTC is changing hands at $80,268, down 1.5% over the past 24 hours but still up 5.2% on the week, according to CoinGecko. The leading crypto asset climbed to an intraday high above $82,500 earlier in the day before pulling back. $ETH dropped 2.5% to $2,300, holding on to a 1.7% weekly ga

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization slipped to roughly $2.75 trillion, down 1.3% on the day.

Most Top 10 assets followed $BTC and $ETH lower. Solana trades at $88, flat on the day but up 6.1% for the week. XRP slipped 2.1% to $1.39, while Dogecoin was the day's biggest loser, falling 3.4%.

TRON bucked the trend, gaining 1.4% and extending its weekly advance to 7%. Hyperliquid's HYPE fell 3.2% on the day but remained the best weekly performer in the Top 15, up 8%.

BlackRock said advisors should consider Bitcoin, gold, and alternative strategies as portfolio diversifiers as stock and bond correlations remain elevated in the current market regime.

In a May 6 report titled How to diversify with bitcoin, gold and alternative investments, the asset manager said geopolitical and economic shocks have made traditional portfolio construction less reliable. BlackRock said the role of bonds as a stock market diversifier has weakened since 2020, with both volatility and stock bond correlations rising compared with the 2010s.

The expansion lands at an awkward spot in eToro's product cycle. The platform spent the past year openly trying to steer clients into traditional markets, after disclosures around its IPO laid bare just how dependent the business is on crypto trading flows.

Cryptoassets generated $1.91 billion of eToro's $2.09 billion in second-quarter 2025 revenue, or 91%, when the company rolled out a cashback program offering UK and European users 1% back in stocks for converting deposited crypto into pounds or euros. The first quarter ran even hotter, with crypto contributing 93% of revenue. For the full year 2025, crypto trading accounted for $12.9 billion of eToro's roughly $13.7 billion in total revenue.
