New research from Google's Quantum AI team suggests a future quantum computer could derive a bitcoin private key from a public key in about nine minutes, potentially allowing attackers to hijack transactions before they are confirmed.

Roughly one-third of all bitcoin, including early coins and any held in addresses whose public keys have been exposed or reused, could be stolen at leisure by a sufficiently powerful quantum computer without the time pressure of a live transaction.

While bitcoin's core mining process would continue to function, the ability to derive private keys from public keys would undermine the network's ownership guarantees, and unlike Ethereum, bitcoin has not yet begun migrating to post-quantum cryptography.

More Bitcoin Is Absorbed Than Being Mined
While price direction has been uncertain and unstable for the past few weeks, a growing imbalance is starting to take shape in the Bitcoin market. This imbalance focuses on institutions’ interests in BTC compared to new coins being mined.

On the X platform, a crypto investor known as AltCryptoGems has shared that institutional demand for BTC is rising at a substantial rate despite current unfavorable market conditions. Currently, public companies are scooping up more BTC faster than the rate at which miners are producing new coins.

As it continues to expand, this dynamic is strengthening the scarcity narrative of the flagship asset and reducing the amount of liquidity that is available. Such an imbalance could play a crucial role or act as a catalyst for the asset’s next price move. When large institutions accumulate, it is typically a clear sign of conviction in the asset’s long-term prospects.

The recently concluded month of March saw a wave of accumulation from these big public firms. In the month alone, the expert revealed that these companies collectively added over 47,000 BTC valued at approximately $3.14 billion at current price levels, to their balance sheets. The mining industry is facing increasing pressure due to rising energy costs, leading Riot Platforms to sell 3,778 bitcoins in the first quarter.

According to the company's operational update released Thursday, the average selling price was $76,626 per bitcoin, generating total revenue of approximately $289.5 million.

As of press time, bitcoin was trading at $66,823 per bitcoin, suggesting Riot took advantage of the higher price at the beginning of the quarter.

Almost 300 Million Cardano (ADA) Scooped by Whales in a Week, Fueling Bullish Outlook

Cardano (ADA) has seen a notable uptick in market interest this week, with whale activity reshaping holder sentiment. 

Notably, over the past week, the cryptocurrency declined by roughly 8%, mirroring a broader pullback across major cryptocurrencies as selling pressure mounted.

However, despite this, blockchain analytics indicate that large holders have quietly been accumulating the coin in anticipation of future gains.

According to data from the popular analytics firm Santiment, as shared by analyst Ali Charts, whales have absorbed around 220 million ADA in the past week alone.

“Whales have accumulated 220 million Cardano ADA over the past week,” he stated, pointing to a significant concentration of buying activity at lower price levels.

Also, recall earlier this month, Ali Charts noted that 230 million ADA had been redistributed by whales, highlighting a recurring trend of large-scale accumulation within the Cardano network.

Meanwhile, analyst Plutus highlighted a notable capital migration among cryptocurrencies. 

“Another Midnight whale doubled down, continuing their migration from Cardano to Midnight with another 1M+ ADA converted into NIGHT higher!” he wrote. 
According to the analyst, this movement indicates selective profit-taking and portfolio rebalancing by whales, suggesting that while some accumulation continues, strategic exits into alternative projects are also occurring.

Recall that last Monday, popular analytics firm Santiment noted that average wallets active on the Cardano network over the past year are reporting net returns of roughly -43%.

What Is Stagflation?
Stagflation occurs when high inflation and weak economic growth happen at the same time. This creates a very challenging scenario for policymakers, who must balance curbing inflation without further slowing growth. Swonk cautioned that if these pressures aren’t controlled, the U.S. economy could slip into a “deep recession.”
Why the Risk Is Rising
Swonk highlighted that disruptions such as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have driven oil prices sharply higher. Rising energy costs increase production and logistics expenses, putting persistent upward pressure on prices. In response, companies are cutting back on hiring, slowing overall economic activity.
The result of these combined pressures is a rare and difficult economic environment where inflation remains high even as growth slows—a textbook case of stagflation.
Possible Fed Response
Given this scenario, Swonk suggested the Federal Reserve may have to raise interest rates in the second half of the year. She added that this policy response might not be limited to the U.S.; other major central banks could adopt similar tightening measures to address the global economic pressures.
