The bulls even pumped the price toward the $1.420 zone. A high was formed at $1.4199, and the price started a consolidation phase.
There was a minor decline below the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the upward move from the $1.3460 swing low to the $1.4199 high.
The price is now trading above $1.4050 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average.

If there is a fresh upward move, the price might face resistance near the $1.4120 level.
The first major resistance is near the $1.420 level, above which the price could rise and test $1.4320. A clear move above the $1.4320 resistance might send the price toward the $1.450 resistance. Any more gains might send the price toward the $1.4740 resistance. The next major hurdle for the bulls might be near $1.50.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies, the world’s largest known Ethereum treasury company, acquired an additional 101,745 ETH last week for over $240 million, pushing total holdings to 5.18 million tokens — as Chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee declared that a new crypto cycle has quietly begun.

The latest purchase, which included 10,000 ETH acquired directly from the Ethereum Foundation in an over-the-counter transaction at an average price of $2,292 per token, brings Bitmine’s cumulative ETH position to 5,180,131 tokens — equivalent to approximately 4.29% of Ethereum’s total circulating supply of 120.7 million coins, according to the company’s official press release via PR Newswire. The firm is now 86% of the way toward what it calls the “Alchemy of 5%” — its stated goal of controlling 5% of all ETH in existence.

Lee Calls The Cycle Turn
In the company’s May 4 update, Lee framed the moment with conviction. “Crypto Spring, in our view, has commenced,” he stated in the release, “and like past cycles, investor sentiment and conviction are muted and bearish even as crypto prices strengthen.” The declaration echoes a pattern seen in prior bull runs — where macro skepticism and subdued retail sentiment coincide with a structural turn in institutional positioning.

Lee pointed to two long-term drivers underpinning his bullish thesis on Ethereum specifically. The first is the accelerating trend of Wall Street institutions tokenizing financial assets on blockchain rails. The second is the rise of agentic AI systems that, in his view, will increasingly require public and neutral blockchains for payments and verification — a use case Lee believes positions Ethereum as the default infrastructure layer.

Bernstein cites $4T tokenized credit opportunity for Figure Technology stock

Shares of Figure Technology Solutions have risen nearly 10% over the past month, but the stock still appears undervalued as the company pivots beyond its roots as a fintech lender, according to Bernstein.

In a Tuesday research note, the firm reiterated its “Outperform” rating on Figure (FIGR), with a $67 price target, implying roughly 67% upside from current levels, and maintained its previous outlook.

Bernstein’s thesis centers on Figure’s transition from a home equity line of credit (HELOC) originator into a broader platform spanning blockchain infrastructure and AI-driven credit markets.

A key part of that shift is tokenization — in this case, converting loans into tradable onchain assets that can settle in real time. Bernstein estimates the addressable market for tokenized credit at around $4 trillion, positioning Figure to tap into a significantly larger opportunity than traditional HELOC lending.

The note also pointed to strong momentum. Loan volumes reached $1.34 billion in April, up 108% year over year and marking the second consecutive month above $1 billion. Bernstein expects that growth to continue, projecting total loan volumes to climb to $16.5 billion by 2027 from $8.4 billion in 2025

Ethereum treasury company Bitmine has expanded its holdings with another ETH acquisition, reaching 86% of the way to its 5% supply goal.

Bitmine Accumulated 101,745 ETH Over The Past Week
According to a press release, Bitmine has furthered its Ethereum accumulation over the past week. In total, the treasury company has added 101,745 ETH with this buying spree, worth about $237.8 million at the current exchange rate.

Originally a Bitcoin mining-focused firm, Bitmine under the leadership of chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee adopted an ETH treasury strategy in mid-2025, following in the footsteps of Michael Saylor’s Strategy. Since then, the company has participated in some aggressive accumulation.

The firm’s buying has continued despite the bearish shift that the wider sector has observed since Q4 2025, which has put its holdings deep into the red. In fact, lately the company has even ramped up its buying. Lee noted:

Bitmine has maintained the increased pace of ETH buys in each of the past four weeks, as our base case ETH is in the final stages of the ‘mini-crypto winter.’

After another notable buy during the past week, the firm’s ETH reserves have grown to about 5.18 million tokens, equivalent to nearly 4.3% of the entire circulating supply of the cryptocurrency.

Bitmine has set a target of 5% of the total ETH supply, so at its current holdings, the company is already around 86% of the way to the milestone in just 10 months of accumulation.

To generate passive income on its Ethereum holdings, Bitmine has been locking up its ETH in the proof-of-stake (PoS) contract. Currently, the firm has 4,362,757 ETH deposited in the staking contract, representing over 84% of its treasury reserves.

A16z Advocates Rebranding Stablecoins as Digital Payment Infrastructure
Robert Hacket, an a16z crypto executive, stated that stablecoins have outgrown the meaning of their original label in recent years. Several experts believe a name change is necessary going forward for the asset class to integrate use cases. However, like other tech terms, the name is expected to linger across traditional circles even after a change.

The head of special projects at a16z crypto explained in a report that stablecoins are now integral to global finance way beyond their early characteristics. In the early stages, these assets were designed to imply a crypto pegged to fiat, such as the dollar or other assets. 

Basically, it was the opposite of mainstream crypto assets, which were largely volatile. In the last decade, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have experienced spikes and bear phases that have dominated trader narratives.

At the time, stablecoins became the obvious alternative for early adopters seeking exposure to crypto without the risk of losing a share of their assets. After initial purchases, they were also used to acquire other assets that had a limited presence in mainstream transactions. 

This year, the name is outdated because it offers much more, with a market cap above $321 billion. The asset class is now more inclined toward cross-border payments, offering faster services for global institutions. 

Stablecoins like USDT and USDC are adopting centralized payment structures and are being deployed across multiple services following the release of regulatory roadmaps. The GENIUS Act and Europe’s MiCA have also recognized broader use cases beyond serving as stable alternatives to BTC and other crypto assets.
