On that note, what was really behind this meteoric rise of the memecoin, and can the breakout be sustained?

Why is $WIF up today?
The expansion into the largest crypto exchange in the Asian market mainly drove the surge in the price of $WIF.

According to a post by Upbit Korea, they will support $WIF trading on pairs that include KRW, BTC and $USDT. This led to high speculative trading, with the memecoin rising over 44% at the time of listing.The daily trading volume of $WIF jumped over 300%, reaching $220 million. This affirmed the high trading activity, which further reflected the on-chain activities of whales.

As per Solscan, whales have been accumulating $WIF immensely, with orders between $100K and $1 million dominating. Over 300 holders were added after the Upbit listing.

For whales buying $WIF worth between $1 million and $10 million, more than seven transactions were made in a day.Furthermore, the token TVL increased from $5.225 million to $5.829 million.

From the data, it was quite evident that capital was flowing into the memecoin. These figures explained why $WIF was pumping, but can these whales keep the memecoin strong?

Quantum attacks could worsen without proof of ownership: Near OneBlockchain protocols preparing for the quantum computing threat should also consider how to quickly verify ownership on the blockchain if funds are stolen, the development and research team behind the layer-1 $NEAR Protocol said.

Concerns that quantum computers could eventually break blockchain cryptography have fueled worries about private keys and wallet security, but most of the conversation has focused on preventing such attacks.

“We won’t be able to tell if someone running a transaction is the rightful owner of the asset or not,” Near One’s chief technology officer, Anton Astafiev, said on Wednesday, adding that blockchain protocols would be forced to make tough decisions on whether to freeze compromised crypto wallets.

“Protocols will face the challenge of deciding to either block all assets at this moment, or enter a wild west,” Astafiev said.

Astafiev suggested that zero-knowledge proof technology could enable the rightful owner to show they know the original seed phrase without exposing sensitive information.

“This is one example of how research across blockchain ecosystems is essential and valuable as everyone prepares for quantum unknowns.”

The crypto rally took a pit stop on Thursday while equities kept zooming higher.

Bitcoin traded at $80,945 in Asian hours, down 0.7% over 24 hours but still up 6.9% on the week. Ether ($ETH) slipped 2% to $2,326 and was the major laggard, dropping 4.4% to $0.1106 after last week's run took its 30-day return into the double digits.

$XRP and $BNB held steadier, with $XRP at $1.41 and $BNB up 1.3% to $643. Solana zoomed 6.1% on the week to $88.06.

The pullback came as global stock markets ripped to fresh records on U.S.-Iran ceasefire hopes, with reports indicating the two countries are working on a proposal to end the nearly 10-week conflict.

The MSCI All Country World Index advanced 0.3% and MSCI's Asia gauge jumped 1.9% to a record, with Japan's Nikkei 225 hitting an intraday high. South Korea passed Canada as the world's seventh-largest equity market by value, with Softbank surging 18% and TSMC adding 3.3%. Wall Street gauges closed at all-time highs Wednesday with about 80% of S&P 500 companies beating earnings estimates, Bloomberg reported.

Brent crude held under $102 a barrel on speculation a US-Iran deal would help resume oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, while gold zoomed for a third straight day to $4,700 an ounce on Fed rate-cut bets and easing inflation expectations.

FxPro chief market analyst Alex Kuptsikevich said in a note that bitcoin's next test sits at the 200-day moving average around $83,300. A moving average smooths out short-term volatility by averaging an asset's price over a set period, and the 200-day version is among the most-watched long-term trend gauge among traders.

The veteran market watcher posted on X that “all eyes” should be on $XRP, while arguing that most traders are currently overlooking the asset. “Most aren’t paying attention here. That’s exactly what they want,” he said.

He later followed up with a chart, claiming that the “$XRP bottom is in” and that a “major bullish rally” is imminent.

Michael’s $XRP chart highlights the coin’s drop from its $3.6 peak to lows just above $1, followed by weeks of sideways movement around the $1.3 price range. The analyst believes the worst is over, considering the coin has fallen approximately 70% from its peak.

His chart projects an attempt to break stubborn resistance between $1.8 and $2. He believes successfully overcoming this region would open the door for $XRP to retest the $3 level after seven months of trading below it.

Considering $XRP is trading at $1.4, this outlook suggests a potential 2x upside for today’s holders.

Beyond $XRP, Michael XBT also shared a bullish outlook for the altcoin market. He argues that many crypto assets are currently trading at “rock bottom,” making them set for a parabolic run.

Meanwhile, according to him, many investors are focusing on Bitcoin while ignoring what could become a major altcoin expansion phase.

Bakkt and Zoth have entered into a strategic partnership framework to build a compliant stablecoin payment infrastructure across remittance corridors connecting the U.S., South Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Africa.

According to a press release shared with crypto.news, the agreement will place the company under the licensing structure of Bakkt Financial Solutions I, LLC, allowing Zoth to operate as an Authorized Agent while using Bakkt’s U.S. regulatory approvals for enterprise payment flows.

The Singapore-based firm said the setup is expected to help financial institutions and money transfer operators move stablecoin-based payments across high-volume corridors that have historically faced compliance hurdles.

The partnership expands Bakkt Inc.’s stablecoin payments strategy weeks after the company completed its acquisition of Distributed Technologies Research, or DTR, a payments infrastructure firm focused on AI-native and agentic transaction systems.
