Two of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s strongest political rivals, Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, have announced a strategic alliance aimed at unseating his government in the anticipated Israeli election later this year. A long-time developer wants to split Bitcoin blockchain and reassign Satoshi coins. The community is calling it a theft



Long-time Bitcoin developer Paul Sztorc has been trying to overhaul Bitcoin's architecture since 2015, but the broader community hasn’t budged.

So now he has proposed a dramatic step, called eCash hardfork, that involves copying Bitcoin's code to launch a separate version in August, while giving existing bitcoin holders equivalent tokens in the new network for free.

The community, however, is criticizing the funding part, which involves reassigning coins linked to Bitcoin’s missing founder, Satoshi Nakamoto.

What is a hard fork?

Think of a hard fork like a railway line splitting into two. Trains start from the same station, but at some point the line splits, helping trains reach completely different destinations.

When a group of developers cannot reach consensus on a proposed change to Bitcoin’s code, they copy the existing blockchain and launch it as a separate chain, which shares Bitcoin’s entire history up to the point of the split, but diverges after the split, moving forward with its own rules, features, token and direction.

That's precisely what happened in 2017 when the debate over Bitcoin's block size reached a tipping point, culminating in a chain split and the creation of the Bitcoin Cash blockchain with its native token, $BCH.

The technical dispute centered on Bitcoin's 1MB block size limit, which caps the number of transactions that can be processed every 10 minutes when new blocks are added to the blockchain. Hence, some favoured increasing the block size, but the community remained divided, eventually leading to a chain split.

According to the latest report, major Litecoin mining pools were hit by a Denial-of-Service (DOS) attack this weekend due to a zero-day vulnerability in the network. The Litecoin Foundation confirmed that the bug has been patched and the network is fully operational. Litecoin Attacker Attempts Double-Spend Exploits On Cross-Chain ProtocolsOn Saturday, April 25, the Litecoin Foundation reported in a post on the X platform that a Denial-of-Service attack occurred on its network. According to the foundation, this exploit, enabled by a zero-day bug in the network's MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB) privacy layer, allowed the bad actor to attempt double-spends against cross-chain swap protocols. Related Reading: XRP's Quantum Readiness In 2 Years: What This Means For Investors The foundation explained that the vulnerability allowed non-updated mining nodes to facilitate an invalid MWEB transaction, which enabled individuals to peg out coins to third-party decentralized exchanges. This DOS attack caused a disruption to the normal operations of major mining pools, the post-mortem report read. The Litecoin Foundation noted that the attack was mitigated through a 13-block reorganization (reorg), which reversed the invalid transactions and prevented them from being added to the blockchain. "All valid transactions during that period remain unaffected," the foundation further clarified.It is worth noting that the Litecoin Foundation didn't identify any affected pools and didn't specify the value of the invalid MWEB transactions created.

Governance votes on Aave DAO’s 25,000 ETH contribution are ongoing as the protocol works to fully restore rsETH backing.

The exploit began at 17:35 UTC, at Ethereum block 24,908,285. Attackers targeted Kelp DAO’s Layerzero V2 bridge on the Unichain-to-Ethereum rsETH route, which was configured as a 1-of-1 DVN with no additional verifiers. They submitted a forged inbound packet that minted 116,500 unbacked rsETH tokens, valued at roughly $292 million at the time, without a corresponding lock or burn on the source chain.The attacker moved quickly. About 89,567 rsETH, worth approximately $221 million, was deposited as collateral across Aave V3 markets on Ethereum and Arbitrum. The attacker then borrowed around 82,650 WETH, worth roughly $191 million, plus smaller amounts of wstETH.

Positions were left with health factors between 1.01 and 1.03, making full repayment unlikely. Aave‘s smart contracts were not exploited. The bad debt originated entirely from the unbacked external collateral.

Aave’s Protocol Guardian responded within hours. By approximately 19:00 UTC on April 18, all rsETH and wrsETH reserves across V3 deployments were frozen, loan-to-value ratios were set to zero, and interest rate models were adjusted to manage liquidity pressure.

Aave Labs and risk manager Llamarisk published a formal incident report on April 20. The report modeled two loss scenarios depending on how Kelp DAO socializes the shortfall. In the first scenario, a uniform haircut across all rsETH holders produces approximately $123.7 million in bad debt on Aave. In the second, losses isolated to L2 rsETH holders result in roughly $230.1 million in bad debt, with Mantle and
