The crypto market inched up a little on the morning of May 10, 2026. The total market cap rose just 0.14% to $2.69 trillion as traders moved money between big coins and smaller ones. Some coins kept climbing over the weekend, but others stalled out when they hit resistance.

The XRP price slipped almost 1% during the past 24 hours after failing to extend above a key resistance region. Uniswap price moved in the opposite direction and remains one of the strongest performers in the market today with gains above 5%. SEI price also stayed positive, adding close to 2% as buyers defended the latest breakout move.

Russia is intensifying efforts to bypass Western energy sanctions after a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker operating under a newly adopted Russian flag was spotted loading fuel linked to the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project. Ship-tracking data from Kpler, cited by Bloomberg, showed the LNG carrier Merkuriy docking near the Saam floating storage facility close to Murmansk in western Russia. The Saam storage unit has been blacklisted by the United States and its allies because it handles cargo from Arctic LNG 2, a major Russian energy project targeted by sanctions aimed at reducing Moscow's oil and gas revenues. The latest movement of the Merkuriy highlights growing concerns that Russia is building a "dark fleet" of LNG tankers designed to continue exports despite international restrictions. Analysts note that the Merkuriy displays several warning signs commonly associated with shadow fleet operations. The vessel is relatively old for an LNG carrier and recently changed ownership to Celtic Maritime & Trading SA, a little-known company with minimal industry exposure. Before the transfer, the tanker was managed by Oman Ship Management Co. The Merkuriy is reportedly one of four former Omani LNG vessels that recently switched to Russian registration and headed toward Arctic waters.

The group will work on wider adoption of Stratum V2, a protocol built to improve how mining pools share work with individual miners. That claim fits the current market, but the real benefit will depend on how widely pools and miners adopt the protocol. Foundry and AntPool are among the largest Bitcoin mining pools by hashrate. Their role gives the working group more market weight than earlier protocol efforts. Foundry controls nearly 30% of global pool hashrate, while AntPool controls about 17.7%, according to Hashrate Index data cited in recent reports. Their participation could help Stratum V2 move from technical work toward broader use. The recent rise has caused Zcash to surpass Cardano ($ADA)'s market capitalization and it is currently the 11th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization with a valuation of $9.824 billion, while Cardano sits in the 12th spot of largest cryptocurrencies with a market cap of $9.81 billion.

$ZEC has risen over the past month following Multicoin Capital's disclosure of a "significant" position in the privacy coin. Prominent crypto fund Multicoin Capital disclosed it had been building a large Zcash position since February, saying that $ZEC's shielded transactions could offer security against increased government efforts to audit and tax visible crypto holdings.

Zcash is set to roll out quantum-recoverable wallets in readiness against future quantum computing threats. The privacy coin aims to achieve full post-quantum status within 12 to 18 months, putting it ahead of major cryptocurrencies in quantum readiness.

$ZEC is currently trading at $587, up 88% in the last 30 days and up 1278% on the year, but remains behind its November 2024 high near $750. This provides room for the rally to continue if the interest sustains. The next barrier is the $600 to $650 range, where $ZEC consolidated through late 2024.
