South Korea’s KB Financial has completed a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) for won-denominated stablecoin as lawmakers and experts push to advance the country’s digital asset framework.

KB Stablecoin Pilot Cuts Fees, Speeds Transfers

On Sunday, KB Financial Group, the parent company of South Korea’s largest bank, announced that it had completed a payment pilot for a won-denominated stablecoin, with electronic payments KG Inicis, Layer 1 blockchain platform Kaia, and digital asset solutions company OpenAsset as partners.

According to local news reports, the PoC integrated the entire financial process into a single workflow, from the issuance of a won-pegged stablecoin to offline payments, merchant settlements, and international remittances. The project allows customers to continue using financial services as before, while the internal settlement system has been migrated to blockchain.

Notably, the real-world payment model was deployed via offline kiosk transactions at a Hollys coffee shop. The system is engineered so that a consumer pays with a QR code without installing a digital wallet, and a blockchain smart contract is automatically executed at settlement.

For international money transfer verification, the model involved converting a won-pegged stablecoin into a dollar-denominated stablecoin using Kaia’s on-chain liquidity, then routing the funds through a local partner in Vietnam to the recipient’s actual bank account.

Unlike the traditional SWIFT method, the entire transfer process was completed within three minutes, and transaction fees were reduced by approximately 87% compared to previous methods, the report noted.

RWA Value On The Solana Network Climbs Sharply
Solana is gaining the community’s attention once again, even with its price pulling back to the $85 mark. Underneath its sideways price action over the past few weeks, the SOL network is rapidly expanding its footprint in the Real World Asset sector.

As tokenization gains major traction in the crypto space, the value of tokenized assets on the SOL network has seen explosive growth. A recent report from Solana’s official page on the X platform reveals that its RWA value has surged to over $2.8 billion, representing a new all-time high.

This figure marks yet another major milestone for the leading network, reinforcing its position in the blockchain sector. The rapid expansion demonstrates the growing interest in bringing conventional financial products such as treasuries and other yield-bearing assets to the blockchain.

SOL attracting this kind of massive value in RWA is largely due to its fast transaction speed and lower costs. As institutional and developer activity around RWAs accelerates, this figure is expected to expand in the future.

Bankr temporarily disables transactions after 14 wallets hackedAI-powered crypto trading assistant Bankr said it disabled transactions after identifying an attacker who gained access to at least 14 wallets, with users reporting that as much as $150,000 in crypto was drained from some wallets.

In an X post on Tuesday, Bankr said it was investigating reports that several wallets had been compromised and that transaction activity, including swaps, transfers and deployments, had been disabled “out of caution” while the investigation continues.

“We've identified an attacker was able to access 14 Bankr wallets. We've temporarily locked things down while we work through the details. We will be reimbursing any and all lost funds. Will provide more updates as we have them,” it added.

Bankr allows users to prompt AI to trade, transfer and launch tokens using plain language rather than a standard wallet interface. It also automatically creates a crypto wallet for every X handle that interacts with its bot. Earlier this year, someone reportedly exploited this feature and tricked Grok into requesting that Bankr launch a token, then drained funds from the token into a wallet they controlled.
