Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, said that Bitcoin ($BTC) is not behaving as a “safe haven” asset as many investors expect.

Dalio stated that Bitcoin’s lack of privacy, the fact that transactions are traceable and potentially controllable, and its high correlation with technology stocks are among the main reasons for this situation.

According to Dalio, when stress increases in the markets, investors turn to selling Bitcoin to create liquidity. The renowned investor also argues that the Bitcoin market is relatively small and therefore more easily influenced, while gold maintains its central role due to its wider reach and established position in the global financial system.

Ray Dalio stated, “Bitcoin is attracting a lot of attention, but it hasn’t lived up to the safe-haven role many expected. There are several reasons for this. First, Bitcoin lacks privacy. Transactions are traceable and potentially controllable, which is why central banks aren’t considering holding it as a reserve. Also, it has a high correlation with technology stocks. Investors sell their Bitcoins when they come under pressure in other parts of their portfolios.”

Dalio also stated, “Bitcoin is a relatively small and controllable market. In contrast, gold occupies a unique position. There is only one gold. Gold is more widely held, has a long history, and maintains its central role in the global system.”

On the other hand, Michael Saylor responded to Dalio’s assessments, defining gold as “analog capital” and Bitcoin as “digital capital.” Saylor argued that Bitcoin’s transparent nature is not a weakness, but a strength that allows it to be used as collateral on a global scale.

A technical signal absent since 2023 on bitcoin has just reappeared. This on-chain crossover, closely monitored by analysts, preceded the last major bullish phases of BTC. As the market tries to regain positive momentum, this return of the golden cross reignites speculation about a possible trend change. Investors are now scrutinizing Bitcoin’s next key levels in a climate mixing optimism and caution.
Bitcoin has just triggered a technical signal unseen since 2023, an indicator historically linked to previous BTC bullish rallies.

CryptoQuant analysts believe this “golden cross” could mark a trend reversal after several weeks of market uncertainty.

Investors are now watching key technical levels, notably around $82,500, considered decisive for the movement ahead.

Market data also show a gradual return of spot buyers, signaling renewed interest in bitcoin despite an still tense macroeconomic environment.

While optimism returns once again to the crypto market, bitcoin has just printed a new golden cross on the MVRV ratio, an on-chain indicator comparing BTC’s market value to its realized value. According to data relayed by CryptoQuant, this crossover between the short moving average and the 200-day moving average appears for the first time since 2023.
Analyst CW8900 considers “this signal as representative of a trend reversal and a bullish indicator”. Thus, he draws investors’ attention because previous occurrences had preceded strong bullish impulses in the bitcoin market.

Meta’s model does not rely on a single catalyst. It stacks 4, all moving simultaneously. The post-halving supply crunch is already in effect, reducing new BTC issuance at the exact moment spot ETF inflows are pulling coins off exchanges at scale.

Layer corporate treasury adoption, 401k integration, and sovereign wealth fund positioning on top of that, and you have a demand profile that is structurally different from any previous cycle.

The final piece is macro: rate cuts resuming means global liquidity is expanding again, and Bitcoin has historically front-run liquidity cycles hard.

Meta frames all of this under the digital gold narrative, fully reclaimed, which means BTC is no longer competing with risk assets for capital; it is competing with gold for reserve allocation.

That is a different game entirely, and the AI thinks the trade looks like a $180,000 to $250,000 range when it plays out.

The bear case is tight but credible. Sticky inflation keeping the Fed hawkish longer than expected, a harsh regulatory move on exchanges, or a macro credit shock could trigger forced deleveraging across leveraged positions.

Meta puts the downside retest zone at $65,000 to $80,000 in that scenario, which is actually not that far from where BTC USD price sits right now. The floor is closer to the ceiling than the uncomfortable truth sitting underneath this prediction.

What comes next, however, depends entirely on whether Bitcoin bulls can defend the price ground the cryptocurrency has just claimed and two important price levels.

The $78,000 Floor That Must Hold
TradingView data shows that Bitcoin registered a weekly close of $82,210 against Tether on Sunday, May 10, confirming that the break above $80,000 was not just an intraday reclaim of the psychological level.

However, the zone between $78,000 and $80,000 was not simply a range that Bitcoin traded through. Technical analysis of the daily candlestick price chart shows that it was a bearish order block, a supply area where sellers had previously overwhelmed buyers repeatedly.

This makes $78,000 the level bulls may need to defend if the breakout is going to stay valid. A clean hold above this area would suggest that the former bearish order block has flipped into support, giving BTC a stronger base for another attempt at higher levels.

The next level is the current lower-high area around $82,000. CryptoPatel’s chart shows Bitcoin trading around this zone after reclaiming the $78,000 to $80,000 order block, and this is where the market could either confirm continuation or form another short-term rejection.

A clean break above $82,000 would open the door for Bitcoin to move higher. In that case, the next likely target becomes the $90,000 bearish order block.
