Dogecoin is currently trading in a sideways consolidation range, with price movement mostly driven by retail sentiment and broader crypto market momentum.
Recent market activity shows DOGE maintaining support despite lower trading volume compared to previous meme coin rallies. Analysts say Dogecoin still attracts attention because of its strong online community and high social media influence, which can quickly trigger sudden price spikes.
At the same time, traders remain cautious because DOGE does not currently have a strong fundamental catalyst driving long-term momentum. Most short-term
movement is still connected to Bitcoin trends and overall market liquidity.

On-chain data shows the Bitcoin Realized Loss indicator has remained elevated even after the latest surge in the cryptocurrency’s price.

Bitcoin Realized Loss Has Stood At $479M Per Day Recently
In its latest weekly report, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode has discussed the latest trend in the Realized Loss for the Bitcoin network. The “Realized Loss” here refers to an indicator that measures, as its name suggests, the total amount of loss that BTC investors as a whole are realizing through their transactions.

The metric works by going through the transfer history of each token being moved to see what price it was transacted at prior to this. If the last selling price was less than the latest one for any token, then that particular token’s sale can be considered to be leading to the realization of some net loss.

The exact degree of loss involved in the transfer is equal to the difference between the two prices. The Realized Loss calculates the sum of this difference for all loss transactions occurring on the blockchain. A counterpart indicator called the Realized Profit takes care of the transfers of the opposite type.

Now, here is the chart shared by Glassnode that shows the trend in the 14-day simple moving average (SMA) of the Bitcoin Realized Loss over the last few years:

As displayed in the above graph, the 14-day SMA of the Bitcoin Realized Loss witnessed massive spikes as the cryptocurrency saw price crashes in November and February.

These spikes weren’t anything unusual, as price drawdowns tend to accompany panic selling from top buyers. Interestingly, however, another spike has just recently appeared in the indicator, despite the fact that BTC has been rallying.

The results, reported by Bloomberg after market close on May 7, showed total revenue of $1.41 billion — a 30.5% year-over-year decline and a miss against the analyst consensus of approximately $1.51 billion. On a per-share basis, Coinbase posted a GAAP loss of $1.49 against expectations of a $0.29 profit — a significant miss that sent shares down roughly 4% in after-hours trading.

What Drove Coinbase To A Loss
The single largest drag on the quarter was $482 million in unrealized losses on crypto assets held for investment, tied primarily to Bitcoin’s roughly 23% decline during Q1, a separate report from TheStreet crypto claims. Strip out that mark-to-market impact and the adjusted net loss narrows to $46 million — a meaningful distinction, but one that still reflects a materially weaker operating environment than the prior year.

Transaction revenue, the exchange’s primary revenue engine, came in at $755.8 million — down 23% quarter-over-quarter and below the $805.2 million analysts had projected. The main driver was straightforward: total crypto market capitalization and spot trading volumes declined more than 20% quarter-over-quarter, per Investing.com, pulling Coinbase’s most volatile revenue line with it.

GameStop's unsolicited $55.5 billion bid for eBay could give the video game retailer a far larger e-commerce platform, a broader resale network, and a potential opening to test whether Bitcoin can move beyond corporate treasuries into consumer payments.

On May 4, GameStop offered $125 a share for eBay in a cash-and-stock proposal that values the online marketplace at about $55.5 billion.

The offer consists of 50% cash and 50% GameStop common stock, with shareholder election rights and pro-rata allocation. GameStop said the offer represents a 27% premium to eBay’s 30-day volume-weighted average price and a 36% premium to its 90-day average.

The estimate comes after Strategy added 145,834 BTC so far this year, worth around $11 billion, with JPMorgan noting that much of the buying occurred while BTC traded below the company’s estimated average cost of roughly $75,000. At the current annualized pace, the bank said Strategy’s 2026 purchases would exceed the approximately $22 billion it bought in each of 2024 and 2025.

JPMorgan Sees Bitcoin Buying Spree Reacceleration
The latest call centers on the speed of Strategy’s buying, not merely the size of its balance sheet. JPMorgan analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou said the company “appears to have accelerated its Bitcoin purchases again in April,” extending what they described as an opportunity-driven pattern this year.

That framing is important. Strategy is not simply buying on a fixed schedule. JPMorgan’s read is that the company has been using price weakness and available financing windows to expand its bitcoin stack, while its stock-market premium gives it a capital-raising mechanism that most corporate bitcoin holders do not have.

As Bitcoin fell below $80,000, US-listed spot Bitcoin (BTC) ETFs ended a five-day influx of roughly $1.7 billion. According to SoSoValue statistics, Bitcoin funds had their first daily outflow in May of $277.5 million on Thursday.



According to Farside, the top two funds in terms of outflows were the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) with $129 million and BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) with $98 million. In the midst of increased Bitcoin volatility, there was a dramatic shift in the flows into Bitcoin ETFs. On Wednesday, Bitcoin soared above $82,000, but the next day, it dropped below the crucial $80,000 mark.

Mixed Investor Sentiment

On Thursday, the first spot Bitcoin ETF established by a US bank, Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust ETF (MSBT), had modest inflows of $7.3 million. Farside reports that since the fund’s introduction on April 8, 2026, there has been zero days of outflows.

With a 557% increase in client assets retained since debut, MSBT has amassed 2,920 BTC, valued at around $232.6 million. In addition to its flagship product, the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), the low-cost spot Bitcoin ETF known as the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF (BTC) was the only other Bitcoin fund to get inflows that day.

The 21Shares Canton Network ETF (TCAN), the first US-listed ETF to provide direct exposure to Canton Coin, the native utility token of the Canton Network, debuted on the Nasdaq with the Bitcoin ETF today.

After momentarily regaining “Neutral” the day before, the crypto market downturn sent the Crypto Fear & Greed Index into “Fear” on Friday at 38. The indicator is still much higher than its April average of 17 due to the 11% increase in Bitcoin over the last 30 days.
