Bitcoin rallies 2.3% after Trump calls Iran peace proposal ‘totally unacceptable’Bitcoin briefly dipped before surging over $82,000 on Sunday as US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s counteroffer to a peace deal, which could prolong tension in the Middle East.

“I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, Trump said in a post to Truth Social on Sunday after reading Iran’s proposal to end the war. Iran has previously requested that the US pay for war reparations and unfreeze blocked Iranian financial assets.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell from $81,430 to $80,520 within 45 minutes of Trump’s post before whipsawing nearly 2.3% to $82,347 less than three hours later, according to CoinGecko data. Bitcoin’s rise also resulted in nearly $64 million worth of short positions being wiped out over the last four hours, according to Coinglass data.

Analyst sets Bitcoin price target amid fresh capital inflowsAfter Bitcoin ($BTC) price struggled to rally beyond $82,200 last week, trading expert Michaël van de Poppe has issued a near-term prediction.

Bitcoin price remains on an upward trajectory despite its recent correction, according to analysis from Poppe shared on May 11, 2026. He argued that $BTC price has strong bullish momentum because it has not broken below its 21-day Moving Average (MA).

Additionally, Poppe countered the rising bearish sentiment, as Finbold highlighted, noting that the flagship coin has not violated its rising structure, characterized by higher highs and higher lows. As such, the analyst set the next major resistance range for Bitcoin price between $86,549 and $90,364.

The near-term bullish outlook for Bitcoin could, however, be invalidated if it consistently closes below a liquidity range between $71,438 and $73,408. If $BTC breaks below this support range, the analyst has set $65,117 as the next hurdle before capitulating to a potential bear-market bottom between $59,600 and $60,749.

Michael Saylor Talks About the Possibility of Selling Bitcoin: “I Didn’t Say I’d Never Sell; I Said I’d Never Be a Seller”

Michael Saylor, one of the most influential figures in the cryptocurrency world and known as a “Bitcoin maximalist,” made groundbreaking statements about MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin asset management strategy in a recent interview. Saylor stated that under the company’s new financial model, it can now maintain its focus as a “net buyer,” selling Bitcoin for operational needs.

Saylor clarified the viral slogan “Never sell your Bitcoin,” stating that what he really meant was “never be a net seller.”

Saylor said, “If we sell one Bitcoin, it means we’re buying ten or twenty in its place. The important thing is to have more Bitcoin by the end of each year than we started with.”

Contrary to popular belief, this decision to sell stems not from a liquidity crunch, but from institutional perception management. Saylor listed the reasons why they were open to selling Bitcoin as follows:

To refute the arguments of some critics and short sellers that “MicroStrategy can never sell its Bitcoins, therefore these assets are worthless,” Saylor stated that they wanted to prove that the $65 billion in assets on the balance sheet were “real and liquid.”

To use Bitcoin’s capital gains to pay dividends on the “Stretch” (STRC) type credit instruments issued by the company.

To protect the company’s financial strength by using the Bitcoin spot market, the world’s most liquid market, during times when stock markets are illiquid.
