A Bitcoin whale dormant since 2013 moved $40 million in $BTC on May 10, with analysts ruling out an exchange dump.

A long-dormant Bitcoin whale wallet moved about $40 million in $BTC on Sunday after more than 12 years of silence. Whale Alert detected the transfer at 19:16 UTC, with funds moving to a new address not associated with any known exchange.

According to data from crypto.news, Pi Network (PI) traded around $0.173 at press time on May 11, struggling to sustain the recovery attempt seen late last month. The token has now fallen sharply from its March peak near $0.30 and continues consolidating close to its recent lows. Pi Network has lagged behind many large-cap altcoins as traders remain cautious over the token’s supply dynamics and still-limited exchange liquidity. One of the main bearish catalysts remains Pi Network’s ongoing token unlock schedule. Over 174 million of previously locked PI tokens are still expected to enter circulation by the end of this month as more users complete migration and KYC processes. Such unlocks often increase selling pressure because early holders and miners may choose to take profits after extended lockup periods. The growing circulating supply could continue weighing on price unless demand rises at a similar pace. Bitcoin has held near $80,000 for over a week, prompting many traders to bet on further upside. However, derivative metrics show that professional players remain skeptical, leaving many to wonder whether $85,000 is actually within reach.The annualized funding rate for Bitcoin perpetual futures briefly jumped to 6% on Monday, touching neutral-to-bullish territory for the first time in over a month. Still, the indicator has mostly stayed negative, signaling more demand for bearish leverage. This lack of confidence among bulls doesn't necessarily block further gains, but it does highlight a cautious mood among traders.Outflows from US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs on Thursday and Friday likely fueled this bearish sentiment. Since ETF flows are a go-to proxy for institutional interest, seeing a reversal right as Bitcoin failed to break $82,000 on several attempts is triggering real concern across the market.

Notably, though Bitcoin is absorbing profit-taking without experiencing an immediate decline in price structure, the situation is not yet bullish. 

Put simply, this signals a shift from a market experiencing loss to one where participants are once again experiencing steady profits.

However, the current positive reading would be weakened if the SOPR fell below the 1 threshold, which would mean that the market is once again processing coins at a loss.

This comes at a time when Bitcoin was trading at $80,958.20 after a hike of 2.51% in the past week and a hike of over 11% in the past month.
