Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) non-fungible tokens are surging again, fueling hopes of a broader revival in the battered $NFT market as speculative appetite returns across crypto.

Floor prices, or the lowest value for the flagship Yuga Labs collection, have climbed from around 5 $ETH to 10 $ETH over the past month, while apecoin (APE), the ecosystem’s governance token, has also rallied from below $0.10 to about $0.16 with a sharp increase in trading volumes.



The rebound comes as memecoins and other high-risk crypto assets are outperforming more defensive sectors such as decentralized finance (DeFi), suggesting retail traders are perhaps returning to the market after months of subdued activity.

For Yuga Labs' newly appointed CEO, Michael Figge, the rally reflects more than short-term hype.

“It’s clear from the numbers that for some time, as far as blue-chip digital collectibles go, it was oversold,” Figge told CoinDesk in an interview. “You had this huge compression in price, but if you actually look at an overlay graph, unique holders were actually up.”

Figge, who has held various executive roles at Yuga Labs since 2022, before taking over as CEO last month, argued that $NFT prices had become disconnected from user participation during the prolonged downturn.

MicroStrategy clarifies it will sell Bitcoin under specific terms.

MicroStrategy stated that it will only sell Bitcoin if it is more profitable for the stock market, primarily when selling Bitcoin would be more advantageous than issuing stock to pay for Stretch preferred shares.

A key factor is leverage: if the MSTR price falls below par value or mNAV drops below approximately $1.22.

The company may also sell Bitcoin for other reasons, such as realizing delayed gains or offsetting failed trading projects.

MicroStrategy leader Phong Le confirmed that the Bitcoin (BTC) asset management firm will only sell Bitcoin under specific terms.

It is alleged that Executive Chairman Michael Saylor had previously hinted that Strategy might sell Bitcoin to pay for shares. This caused market turmoil as MSTR stock prices fell by 4%.

The first term relates to Strategy's Series A perpetual Stretch preferred shares (also known as Stretch (STRC)). These preferred shares have a dividend yield of 11.5%.

According to Le, Stretch changes the company's calculation method.  In an interview with CNBC, the CEO stated that the product has introduced strategic options.

According to Eugene, the fact that Bitcoin is trading at critical levels and altcoins are still consolidating could signal a new uptrend.

Eugene, posting on his own social media channel, stated that Bitcoin is currently fluctuating around $80,000, adding, “The market could start a big move in the next week. I hope it will be upward.” The experienced trader also argued that many altcoins appear ready to break out of their current trading ranges.

Eugene noted that the trading volume and open interest (OI) data in the market were also noteworthy. According to him, at current levels, a smaller amount of new purchases compared to previous periods might be sufficient to push cryptocurrency prices higher. This, he stated, indicates that investors may still be underpositioned in many assets.

According to the analyst, the key element the market needs is for Bitcoin to decisively and strongly break above the $80,000 level. Eugene said that following this breakout, major altcoins, primarily Ethereum, Solana, and HYPE, could take the lead and initiate a new uptrend. However, the trader added that prices should not experience renewed downward pressure.

In a QuickTake post on May 9, crypto analytics group XWIN Research Japan reports an ongoing decline in Bitcoin Dominance (BTC.D), despite the recent substantial price gains. According to market experts, BTC.D initially posted a strong uptrend in 2026, rising to around 60%. This move was fueled by an unrivaled interest in Bitcoin, highlighted by rising inflows into Spot Bitcoin ETFs, institutional accumulation, and macro uncertainty.

However, the Bitcoin Dominance has been declining in recent days, suggesting a rotation of capital toward altcoins. Interestingly, XWIN Research highlights an update shared by fellow analyst CryptoOnChain, who recently posted on the occurrence of “Altcoin Volume Increasing Trend”, a signal that appears when 30-day altcoin trading crosses above the 365-day average in the CEX Volume Ratio (Others vs Top 5).This observed rotation is also well reflected in price movements. While Ethereum (ETH) has shown little price change, assets such as SUI and SOL have registered respective substantial gains of 15.83% and 10.53% in the last week alone. Furthermore, XWIN Research Japan reports that these developments have coincided with a recent bearish MACD crossover on the Bitcoin Dominance chart, which the analysts now say may represent a shift in market structure rather than a mere technical signal.
