may already be exiting its bear market phase, according to 10x Research head of research Marcus Thielen.

He says the market is shifting "from red to orange" as selling pressure fades and liquidity conditions gradually improve.

In an interview on May 11, Thielen argued that what the biggest factor traders are missing is not aggressive buying demand, but the lack of sellers left in the market.

He said Bitcoin currently requires "very little money" to move higher because forced liquidations and heavy outflows have largely already played out.

The analyst pointed to several improving signals:

Consecutive months of positive regime-model readings

Slowing Bitcoin outflows compared to 2022 capitulation periods

Reduced futures open interest after February liquidations

Gradual inflows returning through ETFs and corporate buyers like Strategy

Thielen said the current environment does not yet qualify as a “screaming buy,” but he believes the technical and on-chain backdrop now supports gradual accumulation rather than defensive positioning.
Thielen challenged the traditional Bitcoin halving narrative, arguing demand, not supply reductions, ultimately drives crypto cycles.

According to Thielen, Bitcoin's historical peaks have aligned more closely with sentiment shifts, liquidity cycles and macro conditions than mining halving's alone.

On macro risks, Thielen warned inflation could climb back toward 5.5%, potentially keeping the Federal Reserve restrictive for longer.

However, he said Bitcoin may eventually benefit from AI-driven capital spending, higher nominal growth and persistent inflationary pressures tied to hyperscaler infrastructure expansion.

Thielen believes Bitcoin is bottoming on low volume rather than panic buying, while selling pressure from hedge funds and leveraged traders appears to be fading.

UK parliament to probe Nigel Farage’s $6.8 million donation from crypto billionair



Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK and a member of Parliament, is facing a formal investigation by the parliamentary standards watchdog after failing to declare a 5 million-pound ($6.8 million) gift from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne, news services including the Guardian reported Wednesday.

Farage received the donation from Harborne, a Thailand-based businessman with a 12% stake in stablecoin issuer Tether, weeks before announcing he would stand as a candidate in the 2024 general election, and did not declare it when elected as MP for Clapton. New MPs must register all financial interests received within the 12 months preceding their election.

Japan-based investment company Metaplanet releases its first-quarter financial report! Did Bitcoin cause losses? Here are the details

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.

Despite strong operational performance, the company reported a net loss of 114.5 billion yen (approximately $725.6 million) due to the decline in the value of its Bitcoin assets.

The results revealed once again how sensitive the company’s aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy is to short-term market fluctuations.

Metaplanet stated that the loss was largely due to accounting adjustments related to the decline in Bitcoin prices at the end of the quarter.

The company’s balance sheet recorded Bitcoin valuation losses of 116.4 billion yen (approximately $737.6 million) alone. Management emphasized that this was not an actual sales loss, but a temporary accounting effect based on market prices.

On the other hand, the company experienced remarkable growth on its operational side. Revenues increased by 251 percent year-on-year to 3.08 billion yen, while operating profit rose by 282.5 percent to 2.3 billion yen. This growth was driven by Bitcoin-based options strategies and hotel management activities.

Metaplanet purchased an additional 5,075 $BTC in the first quarter, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 40,177 $BTC. The company stated that it holds approximately 87 percent of the total Bitcoin held by publicly traded companies in Japan.

With this amount, Metaplanet has risen to become the third-largest institutional Bitcoin investor globally, and plans to continue its purchases through equity issuance and debt financing. The company has not made any changes to its 2026 revenue and profitability targets.
