BiyaPay Market Observation: BCH Soars, UNI Rallies Past $10, Is the Altcoin Season Back?

BiyaPay Market Observation: BCH Soars, UNI Hits $10, Has the Altcoin Rally Returned? Following Bitcoin's surge past $87,000, its highest since late January, market attention shifted to higher-beta assets. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap's UNI token saw significant gains, with UNI climbing back to around $10. A key catalyst was CME Group's announcement to launch futures contracts for both BCH and UNI, pending regulatory review. While this signals growing institutional access and risk management tools for these assets, it does not guarantee immediate spot demand. The broader context involves Bitcoin's breakthrough, which improved overall market risk appetite, triggered substantial short liquidations, and prompted capital to seek higher returns elsewhere. The simultaneous rise of BCH and UNI is therefore seen as a combination of this capital rotation and specific news-driven catalysts, rather than a fundamental shift for either project individually. The article cautions against declaring a broad-based altcoin season prematurely. The current move is interpreted as a short-term diffusion of capital post-Bitcoin's rally, amplified by the CME news. Sustainability depends on several factors: whether Bitcoin maintains its strength, if macro liquidity conditions remain supportive, and the actual trading activity once CME futures go live. The performance of BCH and UNI serves as a test case for whether this capital shift can evolve into a more sustained market re-rating for altcoins or if the market will revert to a Bitcoin-dominated structure.

Post-UNIfication: Uniswap's Protocol Revenue and a New Framework for UNI Value Capture

Uniswap, the largest decentralized spot exchange, has undergone a significant transformation with the UNIfication reform. This update clarifies the operational roles within its ecosystem and establishes a new economic framework linking protocol activity directly to its native token, UNI. Organizationally, the reform streamlines responsibilities. Most ecosystem development and growth duties previously held by the Uniswap Foundation have shifted to Uniswap Labs. UNI governance, through its legal entity DUNI, retains control over key protocol decisions and treasury resources. DUNI provides the legal interface for executing governance mandates, while Uniswap Labs acts as its service provider, handling implementation and operations. Economically, the critical change is the activation of the protocol fee switch. This feature redirects a portion of the trading fees generated on the platform to become protocol revenue. Fees are not increased but are reallocated from liquidity providers. Initially rolled out on Ethereum v2 and select v3 pools, the fees accumulate in a smart contract called TokenJar. This protocol revenue is linked to UNI's value through a programmed burn mechanism. A separate contract, Firepit, allows external actors to pay UNI tokens to claim the accumulated fee assets from TokenJar. The UNI used for this claim is permanently destroyed, creating a deflationary pressure directly tied to protocol usage. Data from 2026 shows the model in action. Between January and July 2026, Uniswap processed $357.6 billion in volume, generating $297.9 million in total fees. Of this, the protocol captured $28.2 million in revenue—about 9.5% of total fees. This measurable revenue stream and its connection to UNI token burns provide a new, observable framework for fundamental analysis of UNI. Analysts can now assess value capture efficiency, deflationary impact, and valuation metrics like Price-to-Sales ratios based on concrete protocol earnings, moving beyond indirect metrics like trading volume and active users alone.

UNI Rose 39%, ARB Doubled in a Week as Robinhood Network Shattered Trading Volume Records

Altcoins showed strong growth overall last month, with the TOTAL2ES index rising nearly 32%. Last week, major altcoins like Zcash and Dash saw double-digit gains. Among the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap, UNI from Uniswap rose 39.1%, and ARB from Arbitrum more than doubled, up 107.4%. ARB reached its highest price since early January, while UNI traded at levels not seen since last November. A key driver is the Robinhood Chain network, launched about two months ago, which has become the largest crypto network by fee generation. Uniswap and Arbitrum are the protocols closest to this activity. The network's cumulative DEX trading volume exceeded $40 billion, with daily revenue now over $4 million, surpassing Hyperliquid, Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Base. Uniswap is the primary exchange on Robinhood Chain, capturing almost all trading volume. It also earns a higher fee percentage there (0.465%) compared to elsewhere (0.214%), partly due to tokenized stocks trading in its highest fee tiers. Furthermore, a recent protocol upgrade now directs a portion of these fees to buy back and burn UNI tokens, creating a deflationary mechanism tied directly to Robinhood Chain activity. For ARB, the connection is different. Robinhood Chain is built on Arbitrum technology, and through the Arbitrum Expansion Program, 10% of the chain's net protocol profit is directed back—8% to the Arbitrum DAO treasury and 2% to a developer guild. However, this amount ($1.32 million by early September) is negligible compared to Uniswap's fee generation on the same platform. The situation highlights a new concentration risk for Uniswap. While previously distributed across many blockchains, a significant portion of its fee revenue now depends on a single network controlled by Robinhood, a public broker accountable to the SEC and its shareholders. Any change in Robinhood's routing, fee structure, or regulatory issues could impact the token burn rate supporting UNI's price. For now, the growth narrative is clear: record transaction volume on Robinhood Chain is driving increased token burns and corresponding price revisions for both UNI and ARB.
