The price of Ripple ($XRP) today, August 12, rose by 1.36% and at the time of writing stood at $1.01. On August 11, the price briefly fell below the psychological support level of $1 before quickly recovering. Blockchain data shows that the activity of large cryptocurrency holders and the number of active addresses are growing, despite weak momentum.
Wallets of Large $XRP Holders with 1 Million Coins Grow Despite Price Decline.
Data from Santiment shows that the number of wallets holding more than a million coins increased by 32 over the three months starting May 2026.

The blockchain analytics platform also notes that the increase in the number of whale wallets indicates a transfer of supply from weak hands to strong ones.
"Stronger hands are absorbing panic, patience is replacing simple price hype, and future volatility becomes more interesting for bulls," said Santiment.
But while large investors were accumulating assets, retail traders were selling, and this led to a 29% drop in $XRP's market capitalization over the three-month period during which the whales were buying.
Ripple Active Addresses Increase by 84%.
Analyst Ali Martinez points out that the number of active $XRP addresses increased by 84% — from 23,642 on August 1 to 43,543 on August 11.
This surge comes amid an upgrade to the $XRP Ledger which will increase the network's use in decentralized finance (DeFi).
Network activity is also rising despite a lower probability of the CLARITY Act bill being approved in 2026. According to current forecasts, the likelihood of this bill passing this year is just 22%.

When network usage grows despite bearish factors, it creates a bullish divergence, indicating that users are ignoring the short-term bearish $XRP price forecast.
$XRP Forecast: Price Recovery After 20-Month Low
On August 12, the $XRP price fell below $1, dropping below this psychological support level for the first time since November 2024.
Since then, $XRP has recovered slightly and was trading at $1.01 at the time of writing, but an RSI reading of 37 indicates that momentum still favors the bears.
If selling pressure remains high, the $XRP price could fall to the Fibonacci 123.6% level at $0.85.
Nevertheless, analysts note that $XRP may be oversold after its price fell 71% from July 2025 to August 2026 due to a sharp increase in selling pressure.

If sellers reach their limit, the $XRP price will need to break through the resistance at the Fibonacci 61.8% level of $1.20 to confirm a strong upward trend.
200,000 $XRP Stolen in Exploit.
The Coreum bridge, connecting the $XRP Ledger to the TX Chain, has become the latest victim of a hack, with attackers stealing $200,000 worth of $XRP tokens.
The attacker exploited a vulnerability in the bridge's deposit verification system, creating fake balances and then withdrawing the funds in real-time. This attack is similar to the Wanchain bridge hack on Cardano, where hackers stole $10 million worth of NIGHT tokens.
The Ripple community confirmed that a similar vulnerability was not found in the $XRP Ledger network, adding that the network itself remains secure.
