A TASS report reveals significant public interest in the digital ruble (CBDC). Nearly half of Russians are ready to use it, with 18% actively willing and 36% prepared to adopt it once it becomes more widespread. Interest is highest among younger demographics: 62% of those aged 18-24, 45% of those aged 25-44, and 31% of those over 45 are open to it. Awareness is high, with 70% of respondents having some knowledge of the digital ruble. However, only 32% claim a good understanding, while 38% are only vaguely familiar, and 30% know almost nothing. People primarily learn about new financial tools from mass media (32%), banks/financial services (28%), relatives/friends (18%), and social media (11%). The Bank of Russia is pushing adoption with economic incentives starting January 1, 2027, rewarding banks for salary payments in digital rubles. Major banks are required to enable all clients to conduct CBDC transactions from September 1 of this year. The survey was conducted by "Vyberu.ru" and "Eurokredit.ru" with 2,976 participants.
